Do you think Michael would have liked you?

I think Michael and I would have connected over drawings. I love pencil portraits. We'd talk about science-fiction, religion, politics, language, old movies, etc. I'm shy and hate vulgarity as well.

And I LOVE children and babies.

I'm atheist - but somewhat spiritual...and I think we're both open-minded enough to discuss these large subjects without getting personal/heated.

He said he likes classy ladies. Now by that, I take it to mean he likes women who don't swear, who hold themselves up with dignity, and who are gracious. I don't think it's to do with glamour or prissiness. A woman can climb trees AND have class!

But if he whacks me with a pillow, I will NOT back down. Haha

Our friendship/relationship would be lovely and simple, but who knows as time went on. I'm a realist and I probably would have given him advice that he wouldn't have liked. He might have eventually added me to the Ignore list, unfortunately.

You?

2-Week relaxed Itinerary

Hi everyone,

We are planning a relaxed 2-week trip to Chengdu in November.

Hoping to see a lot of autumn leaves and beautiful scenery!

(NOTE: We previously spent an amazing 2 weeks just in Hangzhou which was perfect for us)

Here is our rough itinerary.

Chengdu (6 nights) places we are interested in:

  • Panda Research Base
  • Du Fu Cottage
  • Wuhou Shrine
  • Science and Technology Museum
  • Pedestrian streets (Kuanzhai, Taikoo Li, Jinli, Chunxi)
  • Sanhe Classic Car Museum (for my son)
  • Anshun Bridge / Dongmen Bridge
  • Sanxingdui (Day trip)

Jiuzhaigou (4 nights)

  • Jiuzhaigou
  • Huanglong

Chengdu (2 or 3 more nights before flying back to Australia)

We had originally planned to go to Qingcheng for 3 nights and then straight to Jiuzhaigou but it would be too stressful. So Jiuzhaigou will be our only one BIG trip away from Chengdu.

What are your thoughts?

Which 3 songs would you want Michael to serenade you with?

Imagine a scenario where you had Michael to yourself. After an intimate chat, what 3 songs would you love him to sing to you?

For me:

- Dirty Diana

Just kidding! 😂

Seriously though...

- One Day In Your Life

- Lady In My Life (the begging!!)

- If I Don't Love You This Way

https://youtu.be/alvJm9HdDjE

- All I Do is Think of You

https://youtu.be/pRD6kJEd8kc

Bonus: Break of Dawn

Damn, I can't even follow my own rules!

Who is Michael talking about here?

In the transcript, he describes someone who he:

  • celebrated her 18th birthday with at Neverland
  • "Very independent, very strong-willed, yet very shy"
  • Comes across as a "very spoiled...only daughter"
  • "Never had fast food, and she loved American clothes" (which you'd say if she wasn't American)
  • Her parents had arranged a marriage for her
  • Very rich. Had her own bodyguards.

Anyone else wish we could have had Michael just sit on a stool and sing several of his ballads?

The set list could have been something like:

  • Ben
  • One Day In Your Life
  • I Can't Help It
  • Lady In My Life (lights dimmed, of course!)
  • Childhood
  • Smile

Can you imagine? He always said that ballads were his favourite.

I think it would've been a lovely and intimate experience for Michael himself too.

Chengdu trip with 2 nights in Jiuzhaigou. Hotel question

Hi all, we plan to visit Chengdu for 13 nights. Hoping to spend 2 of those nights in Jiuzhaigou.

How should I go about booking hotels via Trip.com?

Is it more expensive to book Hotel A (Chengdu), Hotel B (Jiuzhaigou), and then Hotel A again?

Or should I just book Hotel A for the whole duration of the trip and book Hotel B on top of that? Is it cheaper this way...?

Also, do you recommend doing the Flight + Hotel package on Trip.com? Or do it separately?

As I said in a previous post, my grandma is unwell and if the worst happens, I may need to try and get a refund. I've heard that packaged bookings make that extra hard.

A special insight into mid to late-70s Michael by his school friend Darls Centola

A lovely interview with a lady who went to school with Michael and LaToya. She was also his Jehovah's Witness mentor and they'd have a lot of private sessions talking under a tree, etc.

I'm listening to the audiobook, narrated by Darls herself.

Shi Yousan the 'Defector General' . What did he even believe in?

>Shi joined, defected from, then subsequently betrayed the forces of Wu Peifu, Feng Yuxiang, Chiang Kai-shek, Wang Jingwei, Zhang Xueliang, and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Interesting to hear Powell explain Xi Jinping's take on the Thucydides Trap.

Very good interview.
