All White Leaves Question!

I know P. afra isnt technically a jade but they have similar growth patterns so:

With variegated tropical plants I've always heard that if your plant throws all white leaves, you should chop back to a node with chlorophyll since they cant photosynthesize without the green. But with this type of plant, if I chop this branch, I'm likely to get two mode branches just like it out of that same node lol I dont want to have to chop past it off the main stalk.

Sooo...what to do? Leave it? Chop it? Thanks!

Day 28: Moon Valley Pilea is blooming!

I moved my MVP to pon 28 days ago and today I noticed all 3 of the plants in this bundle are blooming! I'd say that plus the HUGE growth burst show SH is a big success with this plant! Yay!

(2nd photo shows what it looked like from the same angle on day 1)

Sweaters 🤭

Had these two for 2 months - they were on clearance at my local nursery ($2 each) because of the obvious damage you can see here. They've acclimated and are finally pushing out new growth but now I have some algae starting to bloom at the very bottom of the pon because I bought clear pots & reservoirs.

So I cut up some socks and made them some sweaters 😍

Splitting With Old Leaves?

I recently bought a pot of 6 L. terricolor because 3 of them were absolutely stunning and I needed them. The 3 in this picture were the...other 3 lol the bottom left guy did absorb it's old leaves and looks good but the other 2 dont seem to be absorbing those old leaves. And now the bottom right guy is starting a new split.

Is a new split one of the times it IS okay to remove the old leaves or should I just let it sort itself out?

I've had them 3 weeks and theyve never been watered by me, plus the soil they were in from the nursery was bone dry. Theyre under a 24w Sansi bulb.

My First Jades!

I have lots of succulents but I never really had much interest in having Jades. But I got these 3 for Mother's Day and am really excited to see if I can train them into bonsais eventually! Super obsessed with the pink tips on the variegated Jade 🤩 and the Dwarf and Ogre Ears are so cute! Excited to see what they can turn into!

Moon Valley Pilea Progress

My MVP has been in semi hydro (pon) for 18 days and is absolutely thriving! It was in water for 2 weeks before pon to prepare it and it didnt seem overly happy so I was worried. But look at herrrr 🤩 just wanted to share because I'm so proud of the progress!

Got these 4 in the mail today! They're so pretty but all 3 of the Echeveria had pretty major root rot and had to part with most of their roots. Luckily the plants all seemed to realize that and the bottom leaves were already sending out some new baby roots so hopefully they recover and I get to see them blossom into what they could look like under strong lights (second picture) 🤞

I'm in the middle of transitioning my tropicals to SH. I decided to go the long route and go straight from soil into water for 2-4 weeks to allow them to grow water roots first. I moved 3 plants into pon about 2 weeks ago (2 Alocasia seedlings and a Moon Valley Pilea) and theyre all doing amazing with no signs of stress. All 3 of these plants went into the pon with water roots and had already shed their soil roots. While in the water they also had some diluted DynaGrow Foliage Pro and did well with it.

I know these plants have been in pon long enough that I can start adding nutrient solution to their reservoirs, but I have 2 more that are about to be ready to transition out of water and I'm wondering:

Since they already have water roots and since my plants recieve diluted nutrients while in hydro (although not 100% of the time) do I still need to wait a couple weeks after transitioning before adding DynaGrow? My pon is dark and I cant see through it well enough to determine if theres new root growth!

I was worried about this little Titanopsis until I looked at a side by side comparison from day one until now, exactly 2 weeks. The individual leaves have shortened significantly and the color is much more dull. But looking at them side by side I'm seeing growth of the older central leaves and new central leaf growth (red arrows in the second picture), plus there are more warts on the older leaves.

So is the shrinkage just from the plant drying out after being overwatered in the nursery? It looks like it's struggling but it also looks like it's growing 🤨

It's only gotten one very light watering/spritz around the base of the plant, 5 days ago. It's in 95ish% lava rock/pumice/maifanitum/zeolite/diatomite and 5ish% cactus/succulent soil. It's under 34 watts of Sansi grow lights for 12 hrs/day. I measure my light by PPFD and it's currently sitting at about 450, with its top recommended amount being 500-600. It was slowly acclimated and is due for another increase but I'm hesitant to do that without knowing if this change in color/leaf length is normal. Dont want increased light to stress it if its already stressed!

Thanks!

(White powder is left over diatomaceous earth from when I first got it since I dont use liquid pesticides for pest prophalaxis on my moisture-sensitive plants)

Its pretty cool to see how much these little things have changed in a short time. The earlier pictures were all from immediately after buying them. Seeing them day after day, it's hard to notice the small changes. But its amazing how much just simply drying them out (after nursery-induced drowning lol) and giving them the proper light can get them to start absorbing old leaves and starting new splits!

I admit, I'm addicted 🤪

This was labeled as Lithops in the nursery but now I'm wondering if it's Conophytum praesectum. Is there a way to say for sure at this stage or do I need to wait and see if it forms a sheath during dormancy? Thanks!

(Its repotted and happier now this is just the only picture I have on hand!)
