Acer Predator Helios 18 CPU and GPU temperatures under load
(I should preface that I am inexperienced when it comes to computers and this is among my first problems/concerns.)
I recently bought a Predator Helios 18 with an i9-14900hx and a RTX4080. I bought it with the intention of using the laptop for gaming and general use.
I happened to have the Predator Sense tab open while playing some AAA games and noticed that my CPU and GPU temps seemed pretty high, with the CPU at 200 (Degrees Fahrenheit) and maxing out at 212. The fans were on auto at the time so I turned them up to max and tabbed back over to the game for a minute, tabbed back, and saw the CPU temperature was still at 210, and the GPU following the same trend (I don’t remember the exact number for it).
At the time I already had the back of the laptop elevated so it could breathe. I tried lowering the maximum processor state from 100% down to 99% which didn’t seem to make much of a difference. I also tried lowering my framerate cap in the game I was playing, which barely changed anything.
Any thoughts? Fixes? Consolations? Warnings? etc?
I’m honestly not even sure if these temperatures are that bad and I’m overreacting, or if this should be a cause for concern. All of this is very new for me and I just don’t want to run my new laptop into the ground already.
