I'm worried the solvents are eating my brain...

The title pretty much says it all. Oil paints are AMAZING. I recently started painting minis, and oil paints have taken my few projects so much further than acrylics.

However, the solvents, even the "odorless" one, are clearly toxic. I keep my solvent in a sealed jar and use just a pinhead's worth on my brush, but it still makes me dizzy. I live in a one bedroom apartment, so even with a respirator mask and the windows wide open, the fumes just linger in my space. I cannot stop thinking about the solvents dissolving my brain tissue...

Are there any genuinely non-toxic alternatives for thinning oils on miniatures? Has anyone tried water-mixable oils for minis? Do they behave as well as the solvent-based ones?

My First Mini! (Tiefling Outlander from the Wildspire Monster Set, Oil Paint)

Tiefling Outlander from the Wildspire Monster Set. Zenithal primed with an airbrush then oil painted with a handbrush. I used a pretty cheap Elan Supplies oil set. I will varnish it in some days after the paint cures.

It looks a bit washed out. How to improve?
