What do most cyclists in Portland actually use to track rides?
Hey everyone, I’ve been working on a cycling app focused more on gamification, territory control, rankings and daily riding motivation instead of pure fitness tracking. Right now it’s Android only, and I’m trying to better understand how cyclists in the US actually track and experience their rides before pushing the project further.
I’m curious what people here in Portland really use day to day. Are most riders on iPhone or Android? Do people mostly track rides directly from their phones or are bike computers basically the norm now? I see a lot of Garmin and Wahoo online, but I’m not sure how common they actually are among commuters and casual riders versus more serious road cyclists.
Also wondering how important things like navigation, battery life, sensor support and Strava integration really are in practice. Would people ever use a more “game-like” cycling app during normal rides, or do most riders mainly care about clean stats and route tracking?
Trying to learn from real cyclists instead of just relying on app store data and cycling channels.
