Is this what the Melderegisterauskunft should look like?

Is this what the Melderegisterauskunft should look like?

This is the first modern-looking document that I've obtained in this entire process, so I wasn't sure. The office has also sent it by email, even though I've asked them several times (auf Deutsch) to send a beglaubigte copy per Post. Before I tackle that, though, I just wanted to make sure that this is indeed the right document.

Help identifying city/town/village?

Can anyone identify the location name in the upper right-hand corner of the wider view of this document? (Zoomed-in photo also included.)

Is it worth going to Germany to gather documents?

I'm applying through my German mother, who came to the US at the age of 12. From that point on, she was basically estranged from her father, so she has no documents from his side and isn't sure where he was born or where her parents were married. Since he was born in 1916, I'm also going to have to go one generation further back.

From her Regensburg birth certificate, I've gotten her parents' marriage date and the (almost illegible, handwritten) location, which looks like it could be Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where her mother did briefly live.

From what little I've gathered so far, it seems all of my ancestors may have been born, married, lived and died in all different jurisdictions (only in Bavaria, hopefully).

This means writing to the next Amt, waiting up to a month for documents to be mailed to me in the US and following any new clues to the next jurisdiction.

Would it make any sense to set aside a week or two and try to do this all in one trip to Germany?

Specifically, are offices able to look up and issue copies of pre-1940 documents in a day or two, or would I only be able to drop off the Antrag and then most places would need a few weeks to conduct the search and mail it to me weeks later, making such a trip not worth it?
