Thinking about getting a new gaming PC

New build.

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

Already have keyboard, mouse, headset, and current monitor (1080p 144Hz, nothing fancy) will be used as second monitor, but otherwise looking at a completely new setup.

Mainly gaming with some photo editing and uni work. Looking to comfortably play games at 4K with really good graphics settings without having to compromise too much.

I play a wide variety of games, ranging from competitive shooters like CS2 and Overwatch, to survival games like Rust and DayZ, sandbox/modded games like Minecraft and Garry’s Mod, through to larger AAA/open-world games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and newer story-driven titles.

I also want to get into more AAA open-world/story games and actually experience them properly with high/ultra settings, ray tracing, good lighting, etc. — not potato graphics.

One of the main reasons I’m upgrading is that my current PC genuinely struggles with newer games now. For example, it can barely handle Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered even on the lowest settings.

At the moment, I’ve mainly been looking at RTX 5080 or 5070 Ti builds paired with something like a Ryzen 7 7800X3D or 9800X3D.

Located in Australia. No Micro Center obviously. Mainly looking at Centre Com, Scorptec, PCCG, PLE, Umart, Mwave, etc.

1 monitor needed.

Currently looking at the LG 32GX870A-B:

  • 32”
  • 4K
  • 240Hz OLED

But open to other recommendations if there are better options.

Budget is around $6500 AUD, including the monitor. Obviously, cheaper is better if performance/value is still good.

I will be using Wi-Fi.

No major size constraints, mid-tower would be ideal. Would prefer something reasonably quiet under load if possible.

Prefer the build to be dominantly (if not entirely) black with limited or no RGB. Definitely prefer a cleaner/minimal aesthetic over a flashy RGB-heavy setup.

Would prefer good airflow/thermals and solid onboard Wi-Fi support.

Thinking about getting a new gaming PC

The main thing I'm after is being able to comfortably play games at 4K with really good graphics settings. I don't need absolutely maxed-out everything at all times, just want it to look and run great without having to compromise too much.

I play a pretty wide variety of games, ranging from competitive shooters like CS2 and Overwatch, to survival games like Rust and DayZ, sandbox/modded games like Minecraft and Garry's Mod, through to larger AAA/open-world games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and newer story-driven titles. I also want to start playing more AAA open-world/story games and actually experience them properly with high/ultra settings, ray tracing, good lighting, etc. — not potato graphics.

One of the big reasons I'm looking at upgrading is that my current PC genuinely struggles with newer games now. For example, it can barely handle Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered even on the lowest settings. It's rough.

At the moment, I've mainly been looking at RTX 5080 or 5070 Ti builds paired with something like a Ryzen 7 7800X3D or 9800X3D and a 4K OLED monitor (specifically the LG 32GX870A-B, but I'm also open to monitor recommendations if anyone has better suggestions).

Aesthetic-wise, I'd also prefer the PC to be dominantly, if not entirely, black with limited or no RGB if possible. Not really into the disco light show look, just clean and dark.

Open to recommendations on full builds, specific parts, or anything else worth considering. Budget is probably around $6500 AUD, including the monitor. Bonus points if it's cheaper.
