So I lent a pure cotton, good quality, around 1-1.2mm thickness fabric shirt to a friend who said they used it mainly indoors and didnt sweat much. But the armpit and surrounding area now strongly smells of pungent sweat that makes you barf.

I have tried these combos (all separately):

1. Warm water + salt/baking soda

2. Cold water + salt/baking soda

3. Vinegar + warm/cold water

4. Colour safe bleach in cold water

All of these were followed up with a wash and rinse cycle in the machine with a heavy duty liquid detergent.

Norhing seems to help, but I dont want to throw this away. Also the smell is too strong so I cant even donate in good conscience.
