Help me for mtech college selection

Okay, so I'm thinking about going to NIT Trichy for my M.Tech in Industrial Engineering and Management. I'm also considering Suratkal for machine design because it's cheaper than Trichy. The thing is, my mom really wants me to study in my hometown. But, a lot of my cousins (they're pretty well-off, though) are going to other cities or states for their studies. I also want to get out of my comfort zone and experience something new. My dad is cool with whatever I decide; he said if I want to go, I should. So, yeah, I'm pretty confused right now.

Yesterday, I talked to one of my friends about it. He told me not to go because some of his friends went to other cities and ended up coming back without finishing their degrees. But, I was thinking that since I can actually get into a college, maybe I should just go for it, especially for a better college. My score in mechanical engineering is pretty low, only 385. I'm from Nagpur and I'm in the SC category. I come from a lower-middle-class family, so I'm really trying to figure out if I should stay here or go to another city.

Please, I really need some advice here, and no jokes or mean comments about my caste, please. What do you think I should do?

Thanks a lot.
