$1,300 for service…? idk maybe. but i don’t want polishing
~20 year old chronomat evolution (A13356) started acting up, took it to a local dealer for service. Today (two weeks later) I get a quote for $1,300 (!) to fix up a Valjoux / ETA 7750 caliber?
15 years ago it was $750 for maintenance, 5 years ago it was $900 for maintenance. this time it’s broken, so maybe $1,300 isn’t outlandish…but it is still shocking.
My issue is that they won’t not (they must) polish it because it’s included..? I don’t want it polished. I get it’s included in the price, keep the money, but I don’t want it. I like my weathered patina. I’ve had this watch for a long time!
anyone else request “no polishing” on their case/bracelet during service?
UPDATE: thanks. you all just saved me hundreds of dollars. i’m gladly paying a $200 cancellation fee and taking it elsewhere!
