Hello! I am looking for pattern suggestions (for the overlay) that are similar to the above dresses. I love that both have big sleeves and also that there are seams that give both dresses some shape and visual interest. I am considering Vogue1723 but would be grateful for other suggestions! This is part rant part question! I am a devoted gauge swatcher (always make one, always block it) but lately I seem to be having the same problem: my actual knitting always ends up being a wayyyy smaller gauge than my swatch. I’ve learned the hard way and I now remeasure gauge a few inches into the project. Inevitably I end up needing to start over with a bigger needle. While I would obviously rather have a garment that fits as intended I am still finding this to be frustrating!
Am I the only one? Seeking any tips or tricks for getting a gauge swatch that more accurately represents your actual knitting. Or do I just cast on a needle size larger than my swatch and hope for the best?!
