Adoptive mom depression

Dinner is Thai beef basil

Hi Ladies. Instead of your usual relationship drama I have Mom woes today.

I have an amazing husband & have been married to for 27 years. 16 years ago, we adopted a newborn infant. Like many of us, I believed that we could overcome any challenges with him. From the beginning, he was a headstrong and difficult child. He has always been very much “my way or the highway.” despite our efforts as parents.

Ultimately, he was diagnosed with ADHD and ASD. We had him in counseling and on meds over the years.

Fast-forward past all the normal adolescent childhood drama. About eight months ago he got a girlfriend. I was pretty excited that maybe this would help straighten him out. But over the past couple days, I have learned from the girls parents that he has thrown her stuff out of the driveway and shouting at her… and broke her hand. He comes home from his interactions and act like it’s just another day in the park. I knew nothing about this until her parents said something.

I have never ever ever wanted to be the parent to one of “those guys” I really don’t know what to do. Our household life is nothing like that. I can’t imagine raising a boy who is abusive. I am completely lost. 😭

Parking Lot Deer Story

I just had to put this true life story out into the real world somewhere. I’ve told a few of my friends, the story and they all think it’s the craziest thing.

I work second shift at a popular gas station/convenience store in the rural Midwest. We get some crazy things happen once in a while but nothing compared to what happens to the third shift a.k.a. overnight. (We are open 24/7)

So this past Sunday, a gal comes in and says the car in front of me hit a deer and “I have always wanted to cut up a deer carcass, but I don’t know how. “ So she called the DNR and they said she could go ahead and do so.

She had nothing on her person but a pocket knife and no experience. She asked the staff for supplies and they gave her some trash bags and plastic gloves, but did not give her a knife.

The staff observed of the pocket knife “that’s probably not gonna get you very far”, but she was determined. Apparently, she spent the entire night butchering this deer carcass in our parking lot. She didn’t even have a phone. She watched YouTube videos on butchering from Todd‘s phone.

They said she didn’t really look crazy, but maybe a little bit crazy? Yeah. Every once in a while, she’d pop up in the window, all bloodied and waving her hand to get their attention. By morning, she was apparently just in her underwear covered in blood and butchering this deer.

Levi had to throw out all of the garbage bags full of the discard parts, into our dumpsters that were already overflowing since it’s a freaking weekend and the trash company doesn’t come until Monday.

Third shift is CRAZY!!!
