Graduated!! Positive birth experience:)
I just want to share my story for anyone feeling scared about labor. My husband and I tried to get pregnant for almost three years. One loss in 2024, kept trying after that, seeked help through IUI, it was successful!!! We felt so happy that it worked but also super scared, slowly weeks turned into months, excitement increased, families and friends were shared with this happy news. It’s the first grandchild on both of our families so everyone was overjoyed. We did a gender reveal, found out we were having a boy!! 💙
Now coming to the birth story.. my cervical check was done during my 39 week appt (we asked for it to know where we are at)and my contractions started the next day, they were quite far apart so not hospital time yet! I cannot sleep that night as the contractions are quite intense. Still not 5 minutes apart so we wait. We move to the next day and they are becoming more intense, by night I cannot bear the pain so we go to the hospital. I am only 1 cm dilated so they recommend morphine to cope with the pain but we stay put and come back home. One hour passes the pain becomes unbearable so we go to the hospital again, I’m now 3 cm dilated, I ask for epidural and honestly that was the best decision for me! Epidural is administered around midnight 1 am ish.. I am able to sleep through the night, by morning 9 am I am almost 10 cms dilated. The nurses told me I can start pushing in sometime. We start pushing and 3 hours in, baby is still in birth canal, sunny side up. Since it’s been quite sometime that I have been pushing and baby isn’t out yet.. they offer C-Section at this point. I panic and tell them I am open to try other poses as I have done so many exercises to make sure I have a vaginal birth.. my god sent mid wife assures me and asks me to try the X legged pose on the sit up thingy.. I try and it worked!!! Our baby boy arrived 30 mins later 💙 the entire birthing team was so amazing!! I did have a third degree tear which I am healing from now. But I honestly was super scared of going through the birth as it’s my first pregnancy, I’m glad I survived!!! 💙✨ the icing on the cake was our baby arrived on our anniversary!!! We didn’t expect it at all but it was such a pleasant surprise for us 💙✨
