Bass Forage and swimbait size

So I've been fishing what I would consider big swimbaits for about 2+ years and haven't had much luck on anything over 8" in size. This has me thinking about the forage in my lake. The bass in my lake mostly eat threadfin shad, there are some gizzard shad but not a huge population. There are some bluegill too and crappie, but I haven't had much luck on lures that imitate either of those two fish. The other side of it is that the bass in my lake don't grow to giant size. I rarely hear of anybody catching one over 5. Should I stick to the 6" baits and smaller or commit to throwing out some big baits?

Also just as a side note, my lake has very little cover near the bank. Its almost all rock and dirt. What little cover there is can be found at the back of coves and that hasn't produced many fish for me. Thanks for the help!

What's a bait you have 100% confidence in with nothing to support it?

For me it's the DRT Police. I just believe if I fish it long enough it'll get bit.

8" huddleston vs 8" Bacca Chimichanga

I'm trying to get more confident with throwing bigger and bigger baits. Right now it seems like 8" is the cutoff for me. I've got both a huddletson and a chimichanga (the big version of the burrito) and haven't caught fish on either one. But if you were to spend a day on the lake and had to pick one which would you choose? The lake I fish is currently right around 71° and is mostly rock. Very little cover, especially off of main lake points.
