Parked my car outside in the sun all day, and my dashcam gets scalding hot to the touch. I’m low-key paranoid about the lithium battery swelling or failing under that heat. Got in a minor fender bender a while back, power flickered for half a second, and the last 10 seconds of footage was just gone. Support said the lithium battery dropped voltage too fast to finish writing the file.

This is my second lithium-powered dashcam. Either they run way too hot in summer, or they eat critical footage the second power cuts out. Looking for recs for dashcams that actually hold up to high heat. Bonus points if they reliably save files on sudden power loss.

For me, the two features I didn’t appreciate enough before having a dog were low clearance and solid obstacle avoidance.

Before getting it, I mostly focused on the usual things like suction power and mopping performance. I didn’t really think much about whether the robot could reach the areas I usually ignore.

We have pets, so there is a lot of hair, dust, and random crumbs under furniture. My previous robot could clean the open areas well, but I had to move furniture or use a handheld vacuum every now and then because it couldn’t get underneath some lower pieces. But my current Ecovacs T80S is slim enough to get under more low-clearance furniture, which means those hidden areas are no longer neglected.

Another thing is the obstacle avoidance. With pets around, there are always things left on the floor - toys, cords, random objects that somehow appear. A robot that can recognize and avoid obstacles properly means I spend much less time checking whether it got stuck.

I think when choosing a robot vacuum, people often focus on the big specs like suction power, but the small details that affect where it can actually clean might matter just as much.
