MNDAA threatens consequences for harming Chinese interests in Shan State

MNDAA has warned residents in its controlled territories of Northern Shan State that any actions detrimental to Chinese interests will result in serious consequences.

MNDAA has permitted Chinese citizens to enter, reside, and operate businesses without any approval from the Myanmar government. A local resident stated that the MNDAA’s threats are specifically aimed at those who oppose or attempt to sabotage these Chinese economic interests.

Town entrance signs, shop signboards, and local currency are being replaced with Chinese language and currency.

The official Myanmar National Registration Card (NRC) is reportedly becoming obsolete in these areas, leaving locals feeling like foreigners in their own land.

Furthermore, China has extended its border fencing beyond the official boundary into Myanmar territory. Despite this being characterized as a territorial encroachment, there has been no response or pushback from the Myanmar government or the military.
