Nitrofurantoin - starting soon, should I take something else?

Ugh. This is the first UTI I’ve had in a long time - but I have chronic diarrhea post covid and am terrified to take it.

The last time I took an antibiotic it set me back 6 months - wasn’t able to work, etc.

Thoughts? Any other suggestions?

Struggling with my longtime psychiatrist

I’ve been with the same psychiatrist for over 15 years. She’s always been wonderful but ( in hindsight) I’ve been an easy / strait forward patient with anxiety and situational panic attacks.

Since my last bout with COVID (omicron) I’ve had severe GI issues, issues with absorption, severe fatigue and for a while struggled with memory and cognitive issues when my B levels / ferritin / and electrolytes/ minerals became dangerously low.

Getting informed medical care has been a challenge bc docs are just learning about long COVID but I’ve been diagnosed with MCAS along with some “POTS like” symptoms and hypoglycemia due to potassium deficiency.

Since my diagnosis My PschD has acted confused as to how to treat, reluctant to treat my panic attacks at all and has recommended several times that I find another PsychD to work with. I’ve been unable to work for much of the last 3 years, am a single mom and have seriously struggled financially.

At one point I was having panic attacks from the PM histamine surges and the weight of my health and financial issues. She recommended I go to an expensive inpatient treatment center. It was so off base #1 for my symptoms and #2 for my financial situation.

I’m sure it’s time to find a new doctor I’m just shocked that she’s not able to navigate histamine issues - and do some research on long covid. I get the sense that she doesn’t believe me and/or wants to be relieved of me. I’ve shared articles with her and asked her opinion / brought it up in our visits and she just doesn’t respond and changes the subject.

I’m just so disappointed, I’ve had a great relationship with her over the last 15 years but this seems lazy and so dismissive - I’ve experienced a lot of this from medical professionals throughout this journey but I didnt expect this from her.

Should my PsychD be able to navigate treatment with my histamine issues and long COVID? Do I need to look for a specific type of PsychD? Questions I should ask when I have the budget to look for someone new? And should be honest (and kind) of her about my experience? I feel like a child who’s been told to go to her room with no explanation. So disappointing.

Type 1 diabetes - Post viral (COVID)

Has anyone here been diagnosed with post viral TYPE 1 diabetes?

My new doc suspects that’s what’s going on with me. 3 years - POTS like and some MCAS symptoms - finally realized it was all insane spikes (165) and drops (60) after eating minimal amounts of sugar.

I have a friend of a friend whose son was diagnosed post covid but I’m hearing more stories now and read a few studies.

PTSD freeze.

Ugh. I’m inspired by all of your pics and particularly warmed by how encouraging everyone is.

I’ve been very sick for 3+ years - all related to post covid - debilitating fatigue, stomach issues, balance issues, cognitive issues. And cleaning had been the most triggering activity for my dizziness. I’ve had to force myself to do little every day things like take the trash out and do the dishes. I’m about 80% healed with the help of a recent medication but I feel terrified to clean. I know I’ll be ok - part of it is that ive gotten so used to checking out - whether making art, binge watching or scrolling. I became scared to go anywhere- grocery store, my son’s school. Truly anywhere. That part needs some care, not a harsh parental figure. It feels so uncomfortable to be present. I live alone 50% and with my son 50%. We both need a clean organized home. I can’t find anything. Whole house is a junk drawer. Pre Covid I was a self flagellating perfectionist - that part of me is DEAD and I just don’t know how to approach anything anymore. I know - I just need to start- a few minutes at a time but I’m ashamed I guess and could use some words of encouragement.

Jeans / pants for bloating!!

I feel like a legit watermelon on toothpicks (as my very southern mom used to say). I’m doing a treatment right now that has me at a full term watermelon size and none of my jeans fit. Two weeks ago I was back in my smaller jeans. I usually wear agolde or Levi’s. Anyone have a suggestion/ flattering jeans that are magically flexible.

Anyone tried LL37 (peptide) to reduce mold toxicity?

I’ve been reading about LL37 and its apparent ability to reduce inflammatory cytokines, mycotoxins load and overall inflammation.

I’m curious but wondering if anyone here has explored or knows more.

It’s been recommended to me several times. My symptoms started w a major GI anarchy. 200x normal levels of Aspergillus and Chaetomium on my house that I sold. 3 years later I’m managing those symptoms about 50% of the time but if I look at a quesadilla I’m back in the pit. It’s high maintenance and still seriously life altering. Traditional detox/ treatment made me severely ill so I won’t do it again.

There’s a decent amount of research out there on LL37 and mold toxicity - should be easy to find.

Scalp thick / numb + nerve pain. Anyone else?

I was exposed to two types of black mold 3 years ago - chaetomium and staccybotrus

I sold my house and have been healing slowly since then.

Still have nerve pain and a few other lingering symptoms.

I’ve had weird scalp sensations and numbness/hair loss and deferred pain - sharp needle like pain and finally realized I had a thick layer skin over most of my scalp that was causing the numbness. I did an exfoliation which got rid of the numbness but it immediately grew back.

Anyone else had similar symptoms?
