I’ve been spending a lot of time with Double Fantasy and Milk and Honey lately, and I’m fascinated by the "production polish" of those 1980 sessions. After five years away from the studio, John came back with a sound that was incredibly tight, professional, and—honestly—very "adult contemporary" for the time. While I love the songs, I can’t help but wonder if that "slick" sound was a permanent shift or just a result of him finding his feet again. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Was 1980 the start of a "Smooth John" era, or was he just getting the pop hits out of his system before doing something experimental again?

Not the basic "avoid caffeine" or "put down your phone" stuff that everyone already knows. I mean the real weird thing that finally worked for you. A specific routine, a supplement, sleeping on the floor, whatever. What actually made the difference after years of lying awake at 3am?

A few years ago I bought an apartment in the CBD in Melbourne as an investment while the building was still under construction. Back then it felt like a no-brainer. It was a shiny new development, good location, and I thought that rentals would basically take care of themselves. I figured by the time the settlement came around, finding tenants would be the easy part.

I seriously underestimated how much work subletting can be. Between inquiries that go nowhere, people canceling at the very last last minute, and trying to figure out the right rent price without scaring people off, it’s been way more hands-on than I expected. I thought I’d just list it online and call it a day, but it’s turned into a full time job. I even like an real estate agent at some point

So, after going into nowhere with my plan, I thought about handing it over to an agency because I’m realizing I probably value my sanity more than saving a management fee. I was looking into options like local real estate agencies since they seem to handle a lot of CBD properties, and I liked that they include floorplans in listings. TBH, feels like it helps people decide pretty quickly if a place fits what they’re after instead of wasting their and my time with endless showings

I’m just curious how other people deal with subletting investment properties. Do you manage everything yourself, or is using an agency worth the tradeoff?

I have a clear intention and I try to stay positive but every few days doubt just shows up again. Especially when nothing changes yet. How do you deal with doubt without starting over every time?
