Turo is over.

Screw this predatory company. Another 4.9 rated all star host quits

They are a predatory company.

One example:
If you offer pre-paid gas for $80, when the guest pays you, you only get $70! Turo takes 10% of everything. So I just LOST money for offering an amenity for my guest.

Along with 100%+ trip fees, I have regulars who messaged me saying my Jeep went from $130 a day with fees to $270. I asked them to screen shot. There was a $130 trip fee on top of my $99 listing price. Turo is charging 130% trip fee on my car, how can any host be profitable with these predatory practices?

Yes hosting on Turo is a choice. 3 years ago it was awesome. Now in 2026 it is a total sham.

If they had some standards like Air BnB (max cap of 15% trip fee added to price) they would maybe have a chance. Instead they are going bankrupt! The platform is only alive from new hosts being honeypotted into thinking they can make $10k a month passive income from fake influencers on IG.

Tesla Service Nightmare: $1,900 “Fix” Turns Into $8,700

This as a heads-up for anyone taking their Tesla in for service.
Brought my 2017 Model S P100D (~136k miles) into the Chicago South Loop Service Center on June 6th because it was having issues. Techs diagnosed it as needing a PTC pump replacement for about $1,400. A little later they bumped it to $1,900 to also swap the 12V battery. They assured me this would get the car back on the road safely, so I approved it.
They completed the work and said the car was ready. The very next day, they hit me with a brand new $8,700 estimate — claiming the Rear Large Drive Unit (LDU) is completely failed and needs full replacement.
Had they done a proper full diagnostic when the car first arrived, they would’ve seen the $8,700 problem immediately. Instead, they only found the cheap stuff first, got my approval and payment, then dropped the bomb after the car was already torn apart. Now I’m stuck — without paying the massive new quote, and I feel completely trapped by a terrible diagnostic process.
This feels like a total lack of informed consent. I would’ve just paid the diagnostic fee and walked away (or traded it in) if I’d known the real extent of the problems upfront. Instead, they did the small repair and then revealed the catastrophic one.
Super frustrated and wanted to warn others. Has anyone else experienced Tesla service doing piecemeal diagnoses like this where big issues only appear after you’ve already committed money? Is there any advice you have for me? Thanks

**UPDATE: they said they will just put my broken PTC heat pump back in, refund me $1900, and give me car back, I still pay diagnosis. But I drove the car into there so they have to return it drivable? Right? (BMSw035 was the code that prompted me to come in)* still waiting for my car as of 6/15/26
