Do you think Netflix will eventually bring Stranger Things back after Season 5?

After the May 13 interview, it really sounded like the Duffers are ready to move on after Season 5 and aren’t planning some direct Mileven sequel or continuation themselves.

But what keeps making me think is… Netflix still owns the Stranger Things IP.

So even if the Duffers are creatively done and now working with Paramount, Netflix could still continue the franchise later if they really wanted to, right?

I keep seeing people confidently say:

“Netflix will never let Stranger Things end forever”

or

“there’s definitely gonna be a sequel/spinoff someday”

But I’m curious how realistic that actually is.

Has Netflix ever done something similar before? Like bringing back a huge series years later, making a sequel/spinoff after the original story already ended, or continuing a franchise even when the original creators moved on?

Because Stranger Things feels way too big for Netflix to just completely leave behind forever, especially with how massive the fanbase is and how important it is to the platform.

At the same time though, after that interview I kinda lost hope for getting future Mike/Eleven content anytime soon.

Do you guys think Netflix eventually does:

a sequel series

a Mileven reunion type continuation

Season 6 years late

next generation type story

or do you genuinely think Season 5 is the final end of this universe outside of the animated spinoff?

And if you think Netflix would continue it eventually, what timeline feels realistic? Like 5 years? Longer?

Did anyone catch ANY hopeful hints about mileven or a future sequel or spinoff from May 13 interview?

I’ve honestly been feeling pretty sad and hopeless after watching the May 13 interview with the Duffer Brothers. I went into it expecting some kind of BIG conversation about the finale and maybe even a small hint about the future of the characters after Season 5.

What I was really hoping for was any indication that the story of Mike and Eleven wasn’t completely over. Not necessarily a full sequel announcement or anything huge, but maybe a tease that we could someday see these characters again in a spin-off, epilogue, movie, or literally anything connected to the main cast.

But after hearing the interview, it felt like they were treating the finale as the absolute end of everything. And honestly… that kinda broke me a little.

I know Stranger Things had to end eventually, but Mike and Eleven’s story feels too important to just completely disappear forever after all these years. I really thought there would at least be some future possibility left open for El, Mike, or the original group. Instead the interview made me feel like the “childhood magic is gone and now it’s over” type of ending is actually what they intended.

Maybe I’m overthinking it, but I genuinely can’t accept that this is the final ending for Mike and Eleven after everything they went through. They deserved something more hopeful in my opinion.

Did anyone else feel this way after the interview? Or did you catch any small hints that there’s still hope for a future spin-off/sequel involving the main characters someday?

What exactly is this Netflix x Deadline “Visionaries Panel” for Stranger Things? Could this hint at a future spin-off or bigger plans after Season 5?

Just saw this post from Deadline where they had the creatives behind Netflix shows like Stranger Things, Beef, Big Mistakes etc. talking about bringing these stories from script to screen.

The Stranger Things team being there got me curious because they specifically said the full conversations are “coming soon.” Since ST Season 5 is supposed to be the end of the main story, do you guys think this could include hints about future projects, spin-offs, or the franchise after the finale?

We already know Netflix wants to keep the Stranger Things universe alive somehow, and these kinds of industry panels sometimes end up revealing interesting stuff indirectly.

Also interesting that it’s not just a normal promo interview — it feels more like a behind-the-scenes creative discussion about the future of these shows and storytelling overall.

Maybe I’m overthinking it lol, but could this panel actually give us our first real clues about what comes after Season 5? Or do you think it’s just a normal industry event with nothing major attached to it?

Where can we watch the Duffer Brothers May 13 interview online?

I missed the May 13 Duffer Brothers interview and was wondering if it will be uploaded anywhere online later.

Does anyone know if there will be an official recording, livestream replay, YouTube upload, or clips from it? I’d really like to watch the full conversation if possible.

Finn Wolfhard on returning to ST

In a May 2026 interview, Finn Wolfhard expressed his enthusiastic willingness to return to the Stranger Things universe in the future, stating that he "wouldn't even have to think about it" if given the chance.

While he acknowledges that the main series has concluded, he believes there is still significant potential to explore the story's "backstories" and "relationships" through future projects

About Duffer Brothers interview

The way the Duffers shut down basically every other theory in that May 13 interview 😭 like they were QUICK to clear certain things up, but somehow the Mileven spinoff rumors were the one thing they didn’t touch at all…

Not trying to read too deep into it, but I can see why people are still side-eyeing it 👀

I just watched this clip and idk, this one feels a bit different from the usual interviews.

It actually looks like they’re going to properly talk about the ending instead of just giving vague promo answers. And honestly, I don’t think they can get away this time with stuff like childhood magic or happening offscreen or leaving everything up for interpretation again — the show’s way too big now for that.

The main thing on my mind is El. I really hope we finally get a clear answer about her fate. Not hints, not “you can decide what you think” — just something real, even if it’s emotional or kinda heavy.

I’m also lowkey curious if they’ll open up about what the ending actually means overall, and whether this is truly the end or if they still leave a door open for anything in the future.

Trying not to overthink it, but yeah… this kinda feels like one of those rare times where we might actually get something concrete instead of just guessing.

What do you all think — are they finally gonna be clear about things, or still keep it a bit open?

Do you guys think Millie Bobby Brown would ever come back as Eleven if they did a sequel, spin-off, or even some kind of reunion in the future?

I know she’s talked about wanting to move on and do different roles, which is totally understandable after being part of the show for so long. But at the same time, she’s always seemed really connected to Eleven, and it feels like that character means a lot to her.

It’s hard to imagine anything connected to the original story especially something involving Mileven—without Eleven actually being there. I don’t think it’s a hard no from her, more like it would depend on the timing and whether the project feels right.

Curious what everyone else thinks would she come back, or do you think she’s completely done after the main series?

Just saw the clip and ngl I wasn’t expecting much at first. I assumed it would mostly be about their new shows/spinoffs, with a few safe Stranger Things 5 questions mixed in.

But then Josh Horowitz said they’re going to answer the big questions, and now I’m actually interested to see this interview.

Like… what counts as big questions here? The ending? Why they made certain finale choices? What happens to some characters after Season 5?

Personally I’d love to hear anything about Eleven after the ending, or even one small comment about Mike and Eleven going forward. Doesn’t need to be some huge reveal, just something more than what we got on screen.

Could be me reading too much into interview hype lol, but now I’m definitely looking forward to it.

Anyone else curious what they might talk about?

I just finished Season 5 and that little ending detail has been stuck in my head ever since. Right after El disappears and the screen goes black, you hear a heartbeat. It was such a small moment, but it felt too deliberate to ignore. Maybe it was just a creepy final sound to end on. But with this show, they usually know what they’re doing with tiny details like that, so it made me wonder. I’m not saying it was definitely El or definitely anyone else. I honestly have no idea. Part of me just thought maybe it could be a hint that she’s still alive somewhere. But it also could’ve meant something completely different.

Could’ve been tied to another character, the Upside Down, or maybe it was just there to keep everyone thinking after the credits. That’s why I wanted to ask here lol. What was your first reaction when you heard it? Did you take it as a clue, or just an eerie ending touch?
