Ah, season 3 memes were a simpler time
After the May 13 interview, it really sounded like the Duffers are ready to move on after Season 5 and aren’t planning some direct Mileven sequel or continuation themselves.
But what keeps making me think is… Netflix still owns the Stranger Things IP.
So even if the Duffers are creatively done and now working with Paramount, Netflix could still continue the franchise later if they really wanted to, right?
I keep seeing people confidently say:
“Netflix will never let Stranger Things end forever”
or
“there’s definitely gonna be a sequel/spinoff someday”
But I’m curious how realistic that actually is.
Has Netflix ever done something similar before? Like bringing back a huge series years later, making a sequel/spinoff after the original story already ended, or continuing a franchise even when the original creators moved on?
Because Stranger Things feels way too big for Netflix to just completely leave behind forever, especially with how massive the fanbase is and how important it is to the platform.
At the same time though, after that interview I kinda lost hope for getting future Mike/Eleven content anytime soon.
Do you guys think Netflix eventually does:
a sequel series
a Mileven reunion type continuation
Season 6 years late
next generation type story
or do you genuinely think Season 5 is the final end of this universe outside of the animated spinoff?
And if you think Netflix would continue it eventually, what timeline feels realistic? Like 5 years? Longer?
Eleven/Rapunzel:
Both El and Rapunzel grew up isolated from the world/society and controlled by a parental figure because of their special abilities. El is enclosed and exploited by Brenner because of her powers and Rapunzel is imprisoned by Gothel because of her long blond magical hair. In both stories the adults in their lives disguise manipulation as love and protection. Brenner and Gothel constantly act as though they’re caring for them but in reality they’re using them for their own benefit and keeping them emotionally dependent
Both characters arcs are about freedom, identity and reclaiming personhood, their journeys become about discovering who they are outside of the lab/tower and outside of the roles forced onto them by their abuser
Their hair reflecting control, captivity and dehumanization.
Mileven/ Flynn Rapunzel :
Mike and Flynn are the first people to truly see El and Rapunzel as person first rather than as powers and experiments, in both relationships being loved as a person instead of valued for an ability becomes emotionally transformative for the girls. Mike and Flynn are also the antithesis of Brenner and Gothel neither of them** **tries to control the girl they love, they’re protective but not possessive, the love in both relationships is tied to trust, emotional safety and choice instead of manipulation
That’s a perfect Mileven variant.

I'm not saying the other characters don't deserve to be happy. But cinematographically, what the fuck!?
As soon as El died, the audience has to sit there and watch half an hour of everyone being super happy.
To top it all off. Just before any theory of El being alive. All "El's parents" talk about is Sauvignon, caviar and filet specials.
🤦♂️
Indefensible fucked up writing.
The finale genuinely looked to me like the Duffer brothers were saying: El died, yay! Let's celebrate!
So their recent interview didn't surprise me much at all, they're dickheads. 20 years or not! It's gonna be a long time of this nonsense as our finale.
The yearning was peak
I’ve honestly been feeling pretty sad and hopeless after watching the May 13 interview with the Duffer Brothers. I went into it expecting some kind of BIG conversation about the finale and maybe even a small hint about the future of the characters after Season 5.
What I was really hoping for was any indication that the story of Mike and Eleven wasn’t completely over. Not necessarily a full sequel announcement or anything huge, but maybe a tease that we could someday see these characters again in a spin-off, epilogue, movie, or literally anything connected to the main cast.
But after hearing the interview, it felt like they were treating the finale as the absolute end of everything. And honestly… that kinda broke me a little.
I know Stranger Things had to end eventually, but Mike and Eleven’s story feels too important to just completely disappear forever after all these years. I really thought there would at least be some future possibility left open for El, Mike, or the original group. Instead the interview made me feel like the “childhood magic is gone and now it’s over” type of ending is actually what they intended.
Maybe I’m overthinking it, but I genuinely can’t accept that this is the final ending for Mike and Eleven after everything they went through. They deserved something more hopeful in my opinion.
Did anyone else feel this way after the interview? Or did you catch any small hints that there’s still hope for a future spin-off/sequel involving the main characters someday?
Like, that was an iconic 80s film! And I would want this spin-off film to be so cheesy, hilarious, and very heartfelt! Like, add some fun uniq personality to this ship and maybe make it ridiculous as they embark on this adventure together in remote Iceland, lmao. Heck, add some horseback riding because it’s so shameless!
Seeing the Duffer's talk about El's ending and that Millie cried when they told her about El's ending? Add that those dumbasses said that they will reveal what happened to El in 20 years? Get the fuck outta here.
El went through so MUCH shit, man. Her mother was taken away by Brenner, she went through so much pain in Hawkins Lab, escaping the lab, learning about friendships, Lucas and Dustin becoming her best friends and later on with Max, establishing a connection with Mike that ended up with the two falling IN LOVE with one another, not being able to see Mike for 353 days, finding her Mom to be in a pretty awful state, far away from her sister Kali, losing her powers, Hopper's "Death", Moving to a new place where she thinks that she doesn't belong, the bullying she took from Angela, finding out that the person who took her mother away was still alive after thinking he was dead, Vecna putting Max in a coma for over a year, and then far away from her friends, family, and her soulmate at the end.
And in Mike's case, his best friend was taken by the Upside Down and never really got the childhood he wanted, the girl that he was falling in love with sacrificed herself to save him, Lucas, and Dustin, Radio calling El for 353 days straight with El listening to ALL OF THEM, finding out that the person that became El's father figure kept her hidden away from him and the rest of his friends, having to watch her move away from Hawkins, watching as El got arrested in Lenora Hills, his parents getting attacked and sent to the hospital by Demogorgons, His little sister Holly was missing, and then at the end.... he had to watch helplessly as El vanished along with the Upside Down. He's NEVER EVER getting over El, unless the two reunite with one another at some point in the 1990's. Which i believe that's the case because Mileven always finds a way back to one another. (That's going to be quite some time though since Millie and Finn are going to have busy schedules.)
"But Eleven represents childhood." Go fuck yourself, Duffers. To think heading into season 5 last year, I once had faith and trust in them to deliver a good conclusion to the show i've been watching for 10+ years. Especially with how good Season 4 was IMO.
If a spin-off does happen where Mike and El reunite, I do NOT want those fucking fraud brothers anywhere near it. Good writers only. Shoutout Eric Robles. Of course, Millie and Finn being in it as they reprise their roles and Mike and El, but throw in David, Natalia, & the woman who played El's birth mother in there as well.
Anyways, I wanted to get this off my chest since it involves one of my favorite TV couples and two of my favorite characters on the show. And how sad I was that they got a really crappy ending back in December. I feel like a lot of people here can feel the same way I've felt. If I offended anyone by putting the swear words on here, I apologize for that.
Maybe we'll get a Tales From '86 to show when Mike gave it to her...
I edited the video to show the topics that may be of interest.
I guess that "blue and yellow" garbage meant jack shit 😂😂

Alright, nearly done! The last box will be for "numbers". We can be fairly lenient for this one, so any quote where a "number" is the focus is fair game!
I found a few which I'll post below. Upvote any quote(s) you feel are deserving!
