My unsolicited opinion on the pricing of GTA
Hi, there are a LOT of opinions on this subject and this is just one more, but most of my friends aren’t gamers so I’ll just put you guys through it lol
I am willing to pay 100 por gta VI and believe it will be worth it, Rockstar games’ are just what I look for in a videogames (rdr2, botw, the witcher 3 and tlou I are to me still unmatched in what a game can offer in their respective genre) and it scratches my very specific itch plus the amount of skill these ppl making it have, I just have to imagine they will make something worth paying for. I will be buying and don’t care about no physical or locked content, same as I did for RDR2 and do not regret it even though those boots and side-mission (or was it more than 1?) made really no difference on anything and I barely noticed, it was a nice way to enjoy the hype and feel that I was being part of something really big.
HOWEVER
Ever since I paid that for RDR2, I have only pay for two games at full price (and also my only two pre-orders), Cyberpunk and TLOU II, and however you feel about those games, we can agree they were divisive and made me more weary about pre-ordering games based on hype. Like the next thing those studios do, I will wait for reviews, I have no doubt in my mind that they will be of quality and well made, but the bridge with me was burned. Just as it would with Rockstar if somehow the game sucked or was unplayable.
I write all these to say… this is how my mind operates and how I justify paying the premium version of the game, that DOES NOT mean I have, do, or ever will do it for another studio that I don’t trust, and collectively raising prices to 80usd will only make things worse imo.
If nintendo or Rockstar want to do it let them, and I will happily pay in gta’s case (as long as it delivers), but if other studios think this is a good idea in the future, then it will just accelerate the dilution of gaming we’ve been seeing for a decade+ now.
Anyway those are my 2 cents, feel free to yell at me
