PSA: Check your Rogers Mastercard cashback rate + linked account
I wanted to raise awareness about an issue I noticed with my Rogers World Elite Mastercard in case it’s affecting others too.
I was checking my rewards in the Rogers Bank app and noticed it said I was only earning 1.5% cashback after April. That confused me because I have Rogers services, so I should be getting the enhanced 2% cashback rate.
When I checked older transactions before that date, they were correctly earning 2%.
I dug around more in the app and looked at the “unlink account” section. Somehow, my Rogers Mastercard was linked to a completely different Rogers account number that wasn’t mine.
I called Rogers Bank customer service and explained the situation. The rep told me they’re already aware of this issue and have been getting calls about it, so apparently this is not just an isolated case.
They had a supervisor relink my correct Rogers account to the card, and they also submitted a cashback adjustment request to reimburse the missing 0.5% cashback I should have been earning since April.
Just wanted to post this so others can double check that (1)Your Rogers World Elite Mastercard is actually linked to your Rogers/Fido/Shaw account; (2) that your purchases are earning the correct 2% cashback rate; (3) the account number shown in the app matches your own account.
Might be worth checking if you’ve noticed your cashback looking lower than expected lately.
