HELP: Did I dial up a Fido scam line? (pls read my text)

It’s a long story so please bear with me. I needed to cancel my Fido plan but i had to wait 3 days for a callback. I found this number in a comment on reddit on this channel which said was swift and not a bot number.

1 (888) 498-4357 … called around 6.00pm, an hour before they close

I didn’t really think much of it (foolishly) and called them from my main number. The intro automated dialogue was the original Rogers support hotline from the actual hotlines. Press one for English, the call will be recorded bit and connected me to an agent after on hold for a few minutes.

The guy asked for my first last name, email (didn’t spell any of it out, non-English names) and postal postal code. That’s it. Then I told him I want to cancel my account since I’m moving. He then said your rogers account is already cancelled (switched from rogers to fido awhile ago). Then I said no, I mean my fido account. He asked how long I’m moving for, then he told me to do a temporary suspension. I said no and cancel it when my billing cycle ends. (I autopay on the 23rd, the cycle is from the 10th to 9th next month). Then he promptly cancelled my account for the 31st. And said he put a note on my account to make sure I won’t be charged for the period till the end of the account (For which he put me on hold for another 5-7 minutes). Then the typical request for survey and end of call. I asked for a conversation ID for the call which he provided. However, he said I wouldn’t get a confirmation email until the date the account ends. I also never ended up getting a survey email

At around 8, I got an automated email which I have attached below. Saying my account was cancelled and services will end on the date mentioned in the called.

But it’s from this email: NOREPLYTEC@fidomobile.ca

I never got any Fido mails from this specific email and idk but the email looks kinda weird to me. And also because it was a random number posted in a reddit comment by a kinda new account. I even called the number after hours and it did the rogers hotline automated intro at first then the “no agents available / were closed” something like that.

Even though the call kind of seemed legit, I never saw this hotline anywhere before and I’m worried if I’ve gotten into an elaborate scam…

Fido downgraded plan & phone without authorization

So I finally got my bill and saw Fido downgraded the device for one of my phone lines which received the phone & put the phone line back on the $25 plan. We did receive the phone & we had agreed on a monthly plan. Now I’m concerned they’ll demand the full amount of the phone which truly, I can’t afford. They did this without our authorization. Customer service couldn’t help & the OOP rep isn’t contacting me again. I did send a copy of the screenshot to CCTS to add to the complaint.

Any advice?

Ontario tornado warning alert - 6 times?!

My husband just switched to Fido and no idea if it's a carrier issue, but he's now received the emergency alert SIX times in the last 20 minutes. Is this a Fido issue? I am with Koodo and did not have this problem, and all my friends with other carriers only received the alert once.

Still rejected by OOP - any suggestions?

Has anyone gotten a similar communication - are you still pushing back? (I do have a copy of confirmation email with discounts which I sent to CCTS)

No bill in my account

I signed up for the 25$ deal a while back and setup automatic payment. I found the bills are missing after the transfer. I called Fido and was told that it is fixed. However, nothing has changed. What should I do now? I have two lines with them. The first payment is about $7 and second payment is over $100.

If anyone had encounter this Charge? I wonder if this can be dispute because its a mistake that fido Charge me for roaming? My plan includes call/text/access data to/from Canada/US/Mexico

Freedom Mobile launches $20 25GB 5G+ Can/US only til May 19

It’s $20 25GB 5G+ Can/US, the plan renews every 6 months. The plan is compatible with roam beyond add ons for international travel, it has wifi calling and the price of $20 is locked through their price freeze policy.

It can only be activated through customer service via chat or phone. I got it myself and for my family.

If you use less than 25GB, it’s a killer plan at $20.

Deleted eSIM by mistake turns in to night mare

I was switching the phone and by mistake got my eSIM deleted from one iPhone and as I thought it might be easier to get the new eSIM QR code to set up on new iPhone but realized later that you can not get eSIM card transfer with the access to that number so they left me with no option to transfer. Next and only option to visit the Fido store or call customer service. Customer service is useless as to connect human to make them understand this situation so they can issue new eSIM card is days away. Earliest appointment I am getting is 4 days after.

I need access to my phone so I decided to visit 3rd party store of Fido where they could issue eSIM but they told that my account has been flagged to visit company Fido store to get new sim. I have no idea what I did wrong. I visited the Fido store next day and they told that there is some issue with identity verification so it’s not allowing them to issue new eSIM.

At this point it’s my limit as even by paying $10 SIM card fee what they ask for, getting SIM card for my phone number which I am paying for it monthly without fail, myself with all my ID present what kind of more verification they want from me. It is extremely frustrating as they behave like there is no solution and ask me to visit after they get the response from their bakend team. Time they dont know! Complete BS from Rogers/Fido.

PSA: Check your Rogers Mastercard cashback rate + linked account

I wanted to raise awareness about an issue I noticed with my Rogers World Elite Mastercard in case it’s affecting others too.

I was checking my rewards in the Rogers Bank app and noticed it said I was only earning 1.5% cashback after April. That confused me because I have Rogers services, so I should be getting the enhanced 2% cashback rate.

When I checked older transactions before that date, they were correctly earning 2%.

I dug around more in the app and looked at the “unlink account” section. Somehow, my Rogers Mastercard was linked to a completely different Rogers account number that wasn’t mine.

I called Rogers Bank customer service and explained the situation. The rep told me they’re already aware of this issue and have been getting calls about it, so apparently this is not just an isolated case.

They had a supervisor relink my correct Rogers account to the card, and they also submitted a cashback adjustment request to reimburse the missing 0.5% cashback I should have been earning since April.

Just wanted to post this so others can double check that (1)Your Rogers World Elite Mastercard is actually linked to your Rogers/Fido/Shaw account; (2) that your purchases are earning the correct 2% cashback rate; (3) the account number shown in the app matches your own account.

Might be worth checking if you’ve noticed your cashback looking lower than expected lately.

Urgent- my monthly data is finished

Hi, I have already finished my monthly data, and when I try to purchase additional data by texting DATA to 222, it says, "Your plan isn’t eligible for adding additional data."
I have requested a call with Fido customer service, but it is scheduled for Wednesday, which is very late. I also tried purchasing it through the app and website, but there is a recurring bug that prevents me from doing so!!
I need to get internet access on my phone ASAP.
Is anybody here who could help?

Does canceling my old line impact discounts on my other lines?

I have an old line with Fido, and added a few new lines with Loyal and other discounts. But I am looking to port out my old lines. Would this impact my discounts on other lines such as Loyalty, since I am not “loyal”? Not sure how they count that

Does Shaw/Fido have no customer service??

Recently got charge $256 on my phone bill. Unbelievable. I tried using AI chat, doesn’t work because my mom forgot her account details. Tried calling multiple phone numbers from both companies including 888-481-3436, 800-7128200, and 888-472-2222. Why are they all bots answering me, 888-481-3436 did not work and told me to call 800-712-9200. I call, they said the number did not work and to call itself (800-712-9200). I’m baffled, at this point I was starting to get annoyed. Read from a reddit post that you can use Shaw customer service for Fido. I tried calling, doesn’t work. So then I sent in a complaint. I get a reply from an advisor (posted above), I’m like okay cool finally someone who can help me. WRONG. I email this dude back saying I’ll call on Saturday 7:00am, as shown in his email. I call today at 7:05am i get an automated message saying to leave my info and he’ll call back. I’m like okay maybe he’s running late no problem. I call at 7:20am, automated message. Now I’m starting to get pissed again, it’s been more than a week now and my issue isn’t resolved. It’s almost 8:00am and I have yet to receive a call. I booked specifically for this time so I can get someone to talk to my mom hours before her work as the other hours listed did not work.

Anyways, that’s the history. I’m still looking for some type of service I can call, especially since my mom does not speak English. If anyone knows please reply.

There’s an online offer for the CPO S24 Ultra at $5 monthly, but I need to upgrade my data plan to $45 for 90GB. My current plan is $39 for 50GB. Do you think the offer is worth it? My phone is already old, it’s an S20 Plus so I’m thinking of upgrading.

Am I being dumb not taking this offer ??

I’m kinda tempted on this offer because it’s a $250 discount plus $1,163 savings on an Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max Certified Pre-Owned. My Apple iPhone 12 Pro is barely hanging on, so sooner or later I’ll need a new phone anyway.

This is under my wife’s plan, and I’d only pay $15/month for 24 months. I just hate the whole locked-in contract part.

Fido Bill Review

Fido has no customer service and doesn’t want to help.

I have 2 set up fees when I moved to Fido that weren’t supposed to be charged ….. Fido doesn’t want to resolve the issue

So frustrating a little issue is getting huge.

How long for bill to post?

I'm playing a waiting game to see if Fido will honour the $14 plan or not. My bill is always dated on the 14th but I still can't see it. Does anyone know how long it takes to see the bill after the billing ends? I don't normally monitor it closely but want to return the phone if they try to charge me the ridiculous $95/month and I only have a few days to decide.
