Any Australian BMS engineers here? Which EA occupation did you use for skills assessment?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working in Building Management Systems/ Building Automation in Australia and I’m trying to figure out which occupation I should nominate for Engineers Australia (EA) Migration Skills Assessment (Stage 1 / CDR pathway).

The problem is that BMS/Building Automation itself doesn’t seem to have a dedicated ANZSCO occupation.

My work mainly involves:

  • Niagara
  • Schneider EcoStruxure Building Operation (EBO)
  • Skysparks
  • controller commissioning/tuning
  • BACnet / Modbus / networking-related DDC troubleshooting
  • integration and automation work

I currently have around 6 months of industry experience in BMS, plus some previous project-based experience and university control/power system projects that I may potentially use in my CDR career episodes.

I’m trying to understand which EA occupation this kind of experience fits under when writing the 3 CDR career episodes.

Would this be closer to:

  • 2334 Electronics Engineer
  • 2333 Electrical Engineer
  • or 2335 Industrial / Production Engineer?

I honestly have no idea which category BMS engineering is considered under in Australia.

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has successfully gone through EA using BMS/controls/automation experience.

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working in Building Management Systems/ Building Automation in Australia for half year and I’m trying to figure out which occupation I should nominate for Engineers Australia (EA) Migration Skills Assessment (Stage 1 / CDR pathway).

The problem is that BMS/Building Automation itself doesn’t seem to have a dedicated ANZSCO occupation.

My work mainly involves:

  • Niagara
  • Schneider EcoStruxure Building Operation (EBO)
  • Distech
  • controller commissioning/tuning
  • BACnet / Modbus / networking-related DDC troubleshooting
  • integration and automation work

I’m trying to understand which EA occupation this kind of experience fits under when writing the 3 CDR career episodes.

Would this be closer to:
