Celestial pearl danios vs cherry barbs

I have this 30 gallon tank, that I'm going to put dwarf gourami in. I'm trying to decide what my dither fish are going to be, I was deciding between these two, but am open to more options. Just looking for stocking advice.

How do you know what a sufficient flow is for your aquarium?

What indicators does someone look for to tell if their aquarium has adequate flow? What behaviors does one look for to see if the glow is too high/ low. I'm mainly asking for my 75 gallon that's stocked with mainly barbs and Cory's. I've read both like moderate flow, but I don't really know what that entails. I've heard the term dead space, but I can tell if I have dead spaces or not. How does one figure that out. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just on this guy today off FMP, trying to find inspiration or ideas for the theme/ vib of the tank. It's 47L, 12 high, 12 deep. It is in a living room with a rustic theme already. Any ideas on stocking, plants, decor, substrate, and anything else is more than welcome. It's a blank canvas rn, and I don't have any idea on what I want to do.

Any idea what it could be? He almost looks like a root, but definitely some type of worm. I don't mind him, but if he causes then I'll take it out
