Occipital nerve block to reset my Trigeminal nerve

Question for you guys, I plan on getting a greater area occipital nerve block (in the crevice on neck) 5 days before family vacation. I’m wondering if I should wait until I return. I’d love some relief for my vacation but I’m worried it could worsen my symptoms. I have atypical Trigeminal pain from chronic migraine…
From research on here it sounds like there’s little success and some got some weird effects… would love to hear your experiences.

Pregablin. Really?

This is so frustrating. I’ve been on CGRP meds/shots to stop the trigeminal nerve pain, and those haven’t worked. I’ve done a steroid pack and gabapentin made me severely congested with ear pain. So now I am with this garbage, lyrica/pregablin? I literally took 50 mg the other night and I could not even get out of bed, no joke I slept in until 10 AM. All day I felt wired and tired and kind of high. This is just a joke or some cruel treatment. Anyone out there have better meds that they take that don’t make them wacko? Do the side effects get better? I’m thinking the pain is better than this garbage. Botox maybe? Thank you so much for any input.

Hate how my teen treats me

I’m getting fed up with my almost 14 year old. She mocks me in small ways constantly. For example, if take a sip of water she makes a loud gulp noise, or she’ll even say - “what are you dumb”, followed by “just kidding, just kidding”. Or she’s say “uhhh duuuuh” if I’m in a train of thought and lost my words. I tell her to cut it out all the time. I ignore it all of the time. I’m at a loss. I honestly can’t wait for school to start back up. I’m getting so tired of this. I thought we would have a nice summer. Is this normal teenage behavior? Also, I’ve noticed she doesn’t have a lot of plans with her friends compared to how busy she was over the school year or last summer. This summer is going to be annoying to say the least. It doesn’t help that I’m battling some health issues. I’m starting to think she doesn’t even like me much

Weight gain on Emgality

So I am almost 60 days into my Emgality shots and I do the 3 dose shots every time… I would say just in the last 2 to 3 weeks I’ve noticed a huge increase in my weight. I’m up a good 8 pounds. My diet hasn’t been that great but it also does not justify 7 pounds. 🤯. Could this just be a water weight thing on the shot? Also, the shot has postponed my periods so I wonder if that’s tied into my weight, but my pants are definitely tight. Did anyone out there stabilize?

Who here takes benzodiazepines such as Valium and thinks that it makes your headaches worse or trigger pain?? I’m trying to figure out what has escalated in my headaches, I’ve been on Valium (low dose) daily for a year as a muscle relaxant…
It’s the only thing I can think of that I’ve changed other than getting older. 🥲

Hello, I’m in the process of trying to get Emgality covered through my insurance and they are saying they need a pre-oth from my doctor but then it came back saying that my option is to pay out a packet. I know my doctor mentioned it’s hard to get this med approved through your insurance, what steps did you guys have to take? I’ve only failed one medication. Am I supposed to fail other others?

Hi everybody, I haven’t been fully diagnosed with TN. I’ve had major pain on the sides of my nose (where glasses sit) which can migrate to my top teeth and to my eyebrows, check, jaw, even right ear. But most of the pain is on the sides of my nose. I have been cleared by ENT, who thought I needed gabapentin for a month but referred me to a neurologist. Neuro thinks it’s Trigeminal Autonomic cephalgia headache. This has been going on since January. So depressing. I have mild numbness on my cheek when the wind hits it but no pain, just some numbness. So a lot of my symptoms don’t fall under the typical trigeminal neuralgia.
