Talk me out of getting a GR86

Hey everyone, I'm a recent grad moving to the west coast, near SF, and I'm currently trying to find housing and a car. I've been driving for about 4 years now, mostly my folks' cars (Both FWDs), and I'm looking to get one of my own. I wanted to get a nice looking coupe with some decent practicality, and I heard a ton about the Toyota 86 / Subaru BRZ / Scion FRS. However, there's a voice in the back of my head saying this is a stupid idea for a few reasons:

  1. I'm like 20 and this is a sports car. I got a couple insurance quotes and it looks like it'd be about 200/mo, which isn't particularly great. This is on top of the actual car payment, which would be around 300/mo.
  2. Gas in the bay area is currently 7/gal, and the premium stuff that the 86 wants would put it close to 8. So, fiscally speaking, getting a used EV like a nissan leaf or a tesla model 3 might be a better idea.
  3. Getting a cheaper car / no car at all will let me spend more on housing, so I have more options that are closer to groceries/public transport/gym.

Now, points for the car:

  1. I'm 21 and this is a sports car. Long-term, I'm planning to start a family, and realistically I don't know if I'd have the liberty to splurge on a car like this in the future. Might as well have some fun when I can.
  2. It's beautiful.
  3. Technically, this applies to any car, but getting one will open up more housing choices since I can find cheaper housing further away from my work. I was looking for housing along the 280 freeway especially since I hear it's gorgeous.
  4. I've always wanted to get into cars a lot more, doing my own maintenance and all. From what I've heard, this is a great car to do that with. I'll be taking care of it like it's my own child.
  5. I've talked with a few of my friends in the bay area and, though it's entirely possible to live without a car, doing much outside your immediate area isn't really possible (or at least it's significantly more annoying).

There's a few more points but those are some of the big ones. Now, in terms of my financials, here's the breakdown. I'll be making around 10k/mo cash after all taxes, and I'm budgeting 3.5 for rent, 3k for investments (roth/401, which is in addition to like ~20k/mo of stock that I'll be getting and immediately saving), and the remaining 3k for food/discretionary.

Realistically, what I'm thinking is just not getting a car for a year, figuring out how the bay area actually is to live in, and then based on that getting a car. But in any case I'd like some inputs from the people here who are much older (and hopefully a lot wiser) than I am. Thanks!

Thoughts on a Mac Neo + Windows desktop?

Hey folks! I'm new to building a PC and I was interested in exploring the space. I'm normally used to using a windows gaming laptop, but unfortunately those don't always have the best lifespan. I was thinking about buying a Mac Neo for cheap, building/buying a windows desktop, and then remoting into it if I want to play games. Realistically, I'm not going to be playing games that often and the ones I will be playing don't necessarily have to be real-time (Think like Stardew Valley or something.) Would this be a viable approach?
