IVF: Pre-Authorization

Has anyone dealt with a fertility clinic refusing to submit prior authorization because they insist it isn’t required, even though your insurance company says it is?
My wife and I are a same-sex couple going through Weill Cornell. Cigna told us that we may qualify for infertility coverage based on our reproductive circumstances, but IVF is only covered under certain conditions and requires prior authorization.
We have repeatedly asked Weill Cornell to submit the prior authorization, but they keep telling us that “Cigna doesn’t require it” and seem confused about what we are requesting. We absolutely do not want to proceed with an IVF cycle based on that assumption, only to have the claim denied and be forced to fight with Cigna and the clinic’s financial services department afterward.
Has anyone encountered something similar, particularly with Cigna or Weill Cornell? How did you get the clinic to submit the authorization? Is there a particular department, supervisor, or type of documentation we should request? Would it help to arrange a three-way call with Cigna and the clinic?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Weill Cornell IVF experience

Am I crazy, or is this level of communication unusual for an IVF clinic?
We’re working with Dr. Reichman at Weill Cornell Reproductive Medicine, and the nursing/support side of the experience has been incredibly frustrating. Emails routinely go unanswered, important questions remain unresolved, and we keep getting bounced between departments without anyone taking ownership or providing a clear answer.
We have an upcoming IVF appointment and still have several time-sensitive questions about the process. I completely understand that fertility clinics are busy, but IVF is already emotionally and logistically overwhelming. Is it unreasonable to expect timely responses and clear guidance, especially when treatment decisions and scheduling are involved?
For clarity, we have no complaints about Dr. Reichman himself. He has a great bedside manner, and our experiences with him have been very positive. The issue is entirely with the lack of responsiveness and coordination from the nursing staff and broader support team.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with Weill Cornell or Dr. Reichman’s team? Is this typical for a large fertility clinic, or should we be more concerned?
