2/20 Logged — assigned but not reviewed

Hello! DOL DRP 1.0 here. I originally sent my refund request back in November 2025, but for whatever reason it was never received. I resubmitted it in January, and it was logged Feb 20. I really needed the money for my studies last semester (grad student), but I was definitely counting on it to be here by summer at the latest.

Now I’m in a situation where I really need it by the beginning of next month if I am going to make rent on time. I called OPM yesterday, and they told me that it had been assigned to a specialist but not yet sent for review. Has anyone else been told this? What is the usually turnaround from assigned to a payment being received? They wouldn’t give me a timeline but said to call back if I hadn’t gotten anything in 30 days.

Hello all,

I submitted my amended return on 2/04, and when I check the status it is still in “received.” As it has now been 12 weeks, I am growing concerned that it has been forgotten or tossed in a drawer somewhere.

My specific issue is that I failed to claim the lifetime learning credit, which amount to an extra $2,000 on my refund. I go to school abroad at a school without an EIN (I did, however, verify that my school is eligible as it is eligible for federal student loans).

I’m wondering if there is anything I can do to speed along the process or find out any information about what the issue might be.

Thank you!!
