Fers refunds logged in February

Curious if anyone who had a refund logged in early - mid February has been assigned to a specialist & provided an estimated approx date for direct deposit?
Trying to gauge timeline because my 2/18 logged app has not been assigned as of 5/20 and I was told 120 days, so I somewhat expected an assignment by now. (Sue me I’m desperate for this money haha)

Letter from OPM

I mailed my SF 3106 in the middle of April, and the certified receipt shows it was picked up on 4/21. As of my last calling (5/14), OPM still hadn't logged it into their system. However, this morning I show a letter from OPM in my Informed Delivery. Any ideas on what this might be? So far as I'm aware, OPM doesn't acknowledge receipt of the application other than by telephone. Could they be reaching out this early in the process for missing information, etc?

Thanks

163 day wait- I had to fight for my refund but finally got it.

Here’s my timeline for those who are still waiting.

Took DRP 2.0. Last day was 9/30/25. I mailed my SF 3106 in October, OPM received it 10/15/2025 via certified mail. It was assigned 10/20/25. OPM requested my pay card on 1/8/26 and from there, something went wrong and either my agency or NFC screwed up the amount of money I was supposed to be paid so my SF3106 got set aside in a literal desk drawer for 2 months. I had to zealously keep calling and emailing. Finally, my case was escalated after I threatened legal action and congressman involvement to the scbillings email and I was told on 3/12/26 via individual phone call that I’d have my refund by 3/26/26. That date arrived and I still had no refund in my bank account but someone from OPM called me and told me my payment had been processed and that I would receive my refund in my bank account no later than 4/1/26. I finally received my payment randomly around 8pm on 3/31/26. I was originally told it would be a 90 day process, then 120 days, but it was 163 days, so around 5 months.

If you mailed yours in before mid-November and still haven’t received your refund, I’d recommend professionally raising hell, so to speak. If I’d “been patient” like so many ass-kissers on Reddit had told me, my app would still be in a desk drawer and I still would be waiting.

FERS refund frustration

It’s been 161 days since my application was as logged on March 15 my paycard were requested and I’m still waiting on that process. the thing is, they requested a paycard from the Department of Agriculture whom I never worked for, I worked for the IRS but they said because NFC handles both of their payroll then the request is valid. Had anyone encountered anything like this? the people answering the phones are not helpful at all.

Working on apps logged XYZ does not equal “assigned”

Spoke to someone this morning and they said they’re still working on 2/2but that this doesn’t mean those are even being assigned to specialists. I was told mine being logged 2/18 means I’m looking at June-August for a deposit. 4-6 months is the timeline now apparently. If anyone has additional info feel free to add/correct me.

Timeline - just got my FERS refund

I left as part of DRP due to the remote work nonsense, and sent in the FERS refund paperwork after getting my last paycheck around mid-October 2025. I just got the FERS refund today so that was about 5 months if any of you also submitted that and wanted to know how long it was taking. Good luck to those of you still sticking with the government

FERS Refund Received Timeline

Hey I just got my FERS refund and I wanted to share the timeline.

12/28/2025 - USPS confirms mail received by OPM.

1/16/2026 - OPM logged refund in system. They said expect to wait 120 days from this date for refund. It also seemed it took like 15 days for them to log my file after receiving it.

5/14/2026 - Refund Received in bank account. It took 118 days from the log date of 1/16/2026. So the timeline of 120 days was correct.

Confused by OPM

USPS - Not Sure

USCIS - Not Sure

Separation: 10/05/25

Mailed FERS application: Dec 2025

Received: Jan 2, 2026

Logged: Jan 29, 2026

Assigned to Specialist: end of April beginning of May 2026 (can't get them to tell me just going off my call timeline).

Direct Deposit: Still waiting

Wait so far: 107 days

Notes: I am trying to figure out what is going on with my application. I worked for USPS and left in 2019.. One would have thought that my FERS information would be in a digital database all these years but apparently that's wishful thinking.

I have made it to the assigned specialist part and request for 3100. I am asking anyone who has experience dual agency requests or USPS 3100 wait times for any information on how your FERS refund processed?

If anyone else has any multi-agency requests can you tell me about your process?

I called OPM and was told a request was made for a 3100 from Civil Aeronautics Board but that makes absolutely no sense because the CAB was dissolved in 1985. I wasn't even old enough to work when it existed.

Any help would greatly be appreciated!!

SF 3100?

Hey so I submitted my SF 3106 form back in January, it was logged on February 5th, and I just heard from OPM (after calling them) that my application has finally been assigned for processing. They had to reach out to my agency for additional information which is specifically a SF 3100 form that they need from the agency. Has anyone else dealt with this? If so, did it delay your progress on getting your refund? I’ve contacted my previous agency’s HR department to see if I can get my hands on the SF 3100 form myself but no one has responded.

Copying my post from r/fednews. Here's where I'm at.

Since we have a format now; I’m editing to put that at the top:

Agency:
DoD

Payroll Center:

DFAS

Separation Date:
12/12/25

Sent to OPM:
Mid-Jan

OPM Received Date:
02/09/26

Congressional Inquiry due to 2 denials of escalation for financial hardship:
4/30/26

Escalation Approved
5/7/26

OPM Assigned to specialist date
5/8/26

Direct Deposit Date:
MM/DD/YYYY

Total Wait Time:
___ days / months

So I'm currently waiting on my FERS refund and I have 2 questions, then I'll go into my timeline thus far:

  1. Anyone ever gotten some kind of advance notice from OPM, or did you just wake up to a deposit?

Timeline:

Left agency Mid-December

Submitted in Mid-January, Certified mail so I had proof

Logged in Feb 9th

Been calling weekly and they just recently they went from 11-13 weeks to 13-15.

2 weeks ago when I spoke to them, they said they were working on Mid-November's logs.

So it looks like my estimated timeframe is mid-may.

Will update as I get more information

**as of 31 Mar **

Called this morning and was told they are currently working the ones that were logged in the week of Nov 18

** As of Apr 7**

Called today and they said the system was down today. But without being able to look, they told me they are still working Nov 18 according to some mystical chart that randomly gets handed out.

they said the best guess is 124 days from logged date, which is sometime in June.

They refused to elaborate if that means business days or real days.

**as of Apr 8**

Since the system was down yesterday I gave them a call today. Current timeline is 19-22 weeks due to the backlog

** Apr 18 **

They are still working on Novembers apparently. 19-21 weeks

**Apr 24**

No movement as of yet, 19 weeks is what I was told, and the gentleman could not tell me what weeks they were working or really any information other than that.

** Apr 30**

Still no movement, second escalation denied because apparently being at risk of losing my house and making my kids homeless because I can't find applicable work means nothing to the douches up there.

They're working those in December, and I'm filing with my House Rep today to get some resolution, because this is beyond ridiculous

** May 4th**

working those from 12/20 supposedly.

timeline 17-19 weeks

** May 6th**

yes I called them multiple times in one week.

They are currently working on those that were logged 2/2.

Apparently their "working list" comes out Tuesdays Afternoons

** May 13th**

supposedly assigned on the 8th to a specialist, but expect another 2-3 weeks before I can see it.

So the "13-15 weeks" they mentioned at the start is closer to 16-18, maybe by the end of the month, then I can wash my hands of this insanity.

** May 14th **

Yes, I am calling them every day, because of my situation, I need to be able to budget and everything accordingly.

just FYI to anyone who thinks the congressional inquiry will change anything as far as escalation:

All the escalation means is that it gets put in the assigned queue sooner. After that, you are no different than anyone else.

Honestly, this system is utterly disgusting. Reps do not give consistent effort or information. One told me to call the week after assignment, one tells me sometime within the month, the one I just spoke to says to call in 2 weeks.

This is absolutely atrocious for any government agency. If the roles were reversed and we owed OPM money, they would take it so fast, but when it's us that's owed money; we may as well just forget about it and hope that it shows up sometime within this calendar year. Screw your situations and your families. OPM does what they want
