Hardship not available for non retirees

I saw a post last night about requesting hardship for the refund if we haven’t heard anything back so I sent an email this morning and received back that the mailbox is no longer monitored and to submit the request online. Unfortunately, you need a CSA number otherwise you have to call and can’t submit it online.

When I called this morning, they said they cannot submit a request for hardship for refunds. I wish I would’ve saw that post before they closed that email mailbox but making this post so that people know (or maybe can correct it and say that perhaps there’s another way).

Mine was received by OPM on 1/20/26, logged 2/13/26 and assigned on 5/28/26. They said it can take months before the specialist reviews it so no timeline. I asked if there’s any information they are missing or anything and they said no.

I still appreciate this community though for all the tips. I hope we all get ours soon.

I received a verbal firm offer but no written confirmation

This is for a different city so I would have to pack up and move. The offer came yesterday on a phone call and they said it was firm but they haven’t sent an email yet. Do you guys think it’s too soon to start packing then? Do you think there’s a chance it could be rescinded then?

Does anyone know who to call if you didn’t retire?

I lost my job last year when they did mass job cuts. I submitted form 3106 (Pension refund/FERS) in January even though I’m not retirement age because I really, really need financial help and I’ve only been able to find temp work since. I’m scared I’m going to lose my place because I’m running out of money and that’s why I sent it in. I haven’t heard anything back yet and I’m not able to call that number ((888) 767-6738) because you need your retirement info. Does anyone know if there’s another way to contact them to check the status of a refund?

I appreciate any help, thank you so much.
