Hey!

Just finished my first Maddening run. Not gonna lie, I played it safe and used all the broken/busted units the game has to offer: Kagetsu, Chloe, Pandreo, Ivy, Citrinne, Amber… and yeah, it was pretty easy.

So now I’m planning a lore-accurate run with only the royal siblings in their canon classes, plus a few other units to support them.

Just beat Engage for the first time and I absolutely loved it. Now I want to jump straight into Maddening, and I’m looking for some high-level advice. I’m the kind of player who lives for minmaxing and optimization. Is it OP? Great, even better, let’s build it.

So I’m asking for your best impactful minmaxing tips, from the very specific to the more general. For example: is it worth spending money donating to the in-game nations from the Somniel? How much is the optimal amount? And up to what level is it actually worth upgrading weapons?

And the big one: optimal character builds. Emblem ring, class, skills, weapon, and weapon engraving.

I already know Alear is going to be a Martial Master with Lucina. But which skills? Which weapons? I know Kagetsu is going to be an axe Wyvern Knight. Which axe? Which Emblem? Which skills? Anna as a Mage Knight… hit me with the most broken stuff you can think of, this is the place for it.

Alright, I’m planning a solo Honour Mode run with a Durge and I need the Potent Robe. In previous runs I’ve tried knocking out the trigger NPC for the cloak event in the Emerald Grove, but lining up the long rest timing for it to fire was tricky and I basically had to rely on save scumming. That’s not an option anymore.

Are there any other ways to get it? Or a reliable way to know exactly when the event will trigger? I’ve got advanced knowledge of the game, so if the solution is avoiding long rests until a certain point, I can manage that. Or some other twisted workaround. I’m all ears. Long live the Absolute.
