LOW IRON, B-12 DEFICIENCY, MOUTH ULCERS

so my mom got tested for vitamin B-12 and iron levels because she had frequent mouth ulcers and burning sensation of the oral cavity while eating (she lost around 5-6 kgs in 2 yrs)

her hb level is at 5.1 g/dl and vitamin b12 level of 153.
REPORT SAYS PERNICIOUS ANAEMIA

the doctor said it's not too severe and gave her B12 injections (to be taken everyday for a week) and some iron tablets, along with some stuff to treat the ulcers and acid reflux.

everywhere in google it says a hb level of 5 is severely anaemic and requires hospitilization, and can even cause death?

im extremely worried, is following the medicine plan for the next month and then checking levels fine? or should we seek a second opinion now itself?

(she's been taking the injections and medicines for 2 days now, and her knee is swollen. Is that just a side effect of the medication? or something we should be concerned about?)
