i took admission in a local college and its ABHORRENT, the facilities are shit, unreasonably strict, and my mental health is getting fucked by my parents and sibling. i wanna get out of this mess and fear i might not be able to bear this for 4 years.

Edit 1: i currently am studying btech cse core from this college, i would like to take up any cse branch in kiit.

Edit 2: i passed 12th grade in 2025(so i was a dropper). My marks in 12th were unremarkable, managing to achieve slightly lower than 65%

iem is driving me crazy. so many assignments and so much pressure for attendance, i am just keep failing at keeping it all in one piece. i am getting hardly any time at home to study, always i have to bother myself to complete the immediate assignment instead of studying for the syllabus. endless forms and registrations and auditoriums but not one pdf containing syllabus for 26-27 first year. how are you guys working with this mess and seniors will this be improving any bit for the better 2nd sem (or 2nd year) and on?

hey there, so i recently joined iem saltlake cse core, now the thing is, this college is so damn strict. strict in every aspect ranging from uniform to attendance and beyond. i heard a lot of people saying that from 2nd year onwards pressure is gonna reduce and that "gurukul is far more chill", now the question is what does that mean, what can i expect, and perhaps more importantly what not to expect?

for context i am in iem sl btech cse core 1st year. i want to know if they are gonna shuffle us around or is this section is gonna be for the next 4 years?

so i recently enrolled in cse core btech at iem saltlake, and the teachers are telling us to buy a "non programmable scientific calculator", now i haven't used scientific calculator ever before and don't know what i need. so seniors guide me which one should i buy? i know two names 82 series and 911 series, which one should i buy (if at all)?

so i need a scientific calculator for the classes, but am unsure how much it will come to use and thus don't want to sink my capital. if anyone has a second hand calculator in good condition (it must be functional and not broken, this is non negotiable) , contact me and we can discuss the price, place etc.

Hey seniors,

I'm joining IEM CSE this year. My main plan is to go for an MS abroad right after graduation. I've read that having some published papers and strong LORs from teachers is super important if you want to get into a good university.

1.Can anyone give me a reality check on how the reasearch culture actually is here?

2.Are there teachers who actively help undergrads work on papers, or is it mostly just sticking to the regular syllabus?

3.Is it even possible to manage the strict attendence rules while trying to do extra research work or internships?

4.Any specific professors in the CSE dept I should definetly try to approach later on?

5.Do people from IEM usually go directly for MS abroad, or does almost everyone just focus on placements?

Any honest advice would be really helpful. Thanks!
