I resigned and the boss was stunned.

I warned awhile ago I was looking after trying everything I could think of to make my job work, and regain my work life balance. I realized today I barely hit the beach and pool this summer. Zero gym use. Didn't even clean off my patio furniture. It wasn't sustainable at all, and they wouldn't let up.

They didn't think I would go. I'm very excited for the new job, but so disappointed I couldn't make my current position work any better. I was not worth taking a task or two off my plate to keep me.

Supervision when licensed question

I'm an LICSW with decades of experience, so some places will be like, oh you don't need supervision weekly. I do!!! We all do! My current org does give it to me, but since I'm not working towards licensure, it's been with LMHC and a LADC. Usually folks with counseling masters are excellent and I respect them, but social work values differ in some significant areas. I'm finding this coming up more and more with some high risk situations with ethics, boundaries, and right to self autonomy. It's also shadowed over a bit by org bullshit trying to keep my work as profitable as possible rather than as good quality as possible.

Has anyone licensed/experienced asked your org for social workers only as your clinical supervisor?

[MA] Cab I decline this exit interview?

I have had some HR involvement this year I initiated attempting to secure intermittent leave for a medical problem that flares. It was HR who was rude and also didn't do the functional portion of their jobs, to the point I gave it up.

As far as the reasons I wish to leave, I have been transparent all year. They don't care, not in a mean way. Just zero capacity. It's a churn and burn industry. We are completely disposable even though it's hard to replace some of us with licensure.

Do I really have to go to this? I have already emailed my concerns consistently. I also emailed the big big boss with a pros and cons suggestions list when requested.

Lead hospital SW - would you?

Hi! I work per diem in a small hospital that's part of a huge chain/network, so we are one of the kinder gentler sites to work at. They offered me full time and seemed disappointed when I said no, it doesn't pay enough to make the switch worth it over my day job outside of hospital. However, now they have posted a lead SW position that looks really good on paper, lots of tasks and responsibilities I would be interested in, but I barely interact with coworkers or supervisors since I work weekends. I don't hear much feedback on our director except nobody really knows what she does, always in some meeting. Other floors are usual medical SW complaints, some volume of requests that we are set up on like promising I'll find you housing today. Pays very well and my current job passed me over for a promotion recently for someone much less qualified.

Thoughts? If you're a lead, what's reality?

Age discrimination

On my throwaway account because I have one higher up who seems to be in every SW forum possible...preaching about the greatness of working for our CMH agency while writing up her entire staff. Cute.

I'm middle aged now, and this year I'm finding myself out of effs on a few things. I'm hearing from several friends it's a menopause thing and certainly working with my providers on mood issues, but I am just finding myself breaking down over the stuff that does NOT matter. Paperwork. Productivity. Keeping so many bosses happy. Advice from way over my head that in no way meets reality.

I advocated for myself, and it was a stupid move. A promotion I was a clear candidate for went to someone much less accomplished and that is frankly smarter than me for not burning himself out doing the work of three like I do. And he's much younger.

How do you handle the back nine of your career? I used to be so excited to do my job well and be part of the team. Now I just hide all day. I wish I could cut back or quit and do something else now, or take a solid break. The kicker is I work for a company led by women! I also get along with my younger coworkers very well, I relate to them better than the ones who are older. Just curious what others have chosen.

I know they would love to dump my salary, but they need my license.

Urgent please help me understand

Hi! My neighbor was arrested by ICE a few weeks ago and is being held near Buffalo.

He has worked for Amazon for several years in MA in warehouses. But I learned he's been in Buffalo three days per week. Pays more?

Who would anyone do that? Why work in Buffalo if you're in Eastern MA? It's shady as hell as he was caught near work, his car is conveniently racking up costs at a local tow yard.

I honestly would have never guessed he had a paperwork issue of any kind. Fully bilingual, been here forever, and works over the table.

If you could help me figure out what makes it worth going there, that would be great.
