Control the population variation

Blue: only 5% of everyone dies, but it just so happens that everyone in that 5% were the people who are (knowingly or not) keeping society from spiraling out of control

Red: 50% of everyone dies, but it just so happens that everyone in that 50% had literally no impact on society

meet TAS

usually i'd get my drawing tablet and clip studio but i'm too eepy, so ms paint mouse it is

here's TAS. he can't do much. he does however make sure whatever he does is executed absolutely perfectly. so perfectly in fact, that the universe let's him break the rules a little.

TAS represents tool assisted speedruns and perfect play. he probably only talks in italian-sounding gibberish, and can perform just about any glitch known to the scritterverse

Red planet or blue planet?

Default variation, but the vote miraculously came out to a perfect 50/50. The omnipotent being who set this up decides to resolve this by creating 2 parallel universe earths, one that contains only blue pressers and one that contains only reds. Which planet would you want to live in?

Only you the readers of this post know about this parallel universe shit, everyone else is left in the dark

Here's a blue wins scenario to compliment my red wins scenario

After the vote is over, everyone's results go public

Blue: blue wins at a 90/10 ratio

Red: blue wins at a 51/49 ratio

Nobody dies, your button press controls blue's win ratio, and it matters because everyone's gonna know who voted what

Red wins scenario idk how to call it

Blue: you vote blue. Red wins at a 99/1 ratio. You sacrifice yourself to minimize the damage done to the planet.

Red: you vote red. Red wins at a 51/49 ratio. You preserve your life at the cost of living in a world where the thought experiment does the maximum amount of damage possible.

What i believe the mindset of either side is

Base assumption: default Twitter post. No variations

Blue mindset: the poll must be close to 50/50. The winner has not been decided yet. My vote matters and serves to widen blue's gap or push past the post.

Red mindset: the poll must be at a wide gap, say 70/30. The winner has been decided. My vote no longer matters and serves to secure my survival.

thought experiment thought experiment: what if red won in that initial poll

the initial tweet that proposed this experiment had a poll, it came out blue like 60/40ish

how would the button discourse look like if red won 60/40? what if it won 50.01% or some stupidly close difference?

assumption: everyone knows about the voting event before it happens, it is not sudden and there is ample time to prepare

rationale based on such assumption: people in less democratic countries like china and russia would be pushed into pushing red, either through propaganda like "americans voted blue, vote red to kill americans" or strongarming like "we will find blue pushers and kill them if blue wins", meaning in turn a very very large amount of population pushes red, not by their own choice
