Given the positive reception to the app I made for myself reminding me of all the Navitimer bezel functions, I have made a different distributable version. It doesn't feature any Breitling or Navitimer copyrighted information/trade marks/ trade dress so it's OK to release. Details in post.
The initial post was here: https://www.reddit.com/r/breitling/comments/1t8t4ta/so_i_made_a_naivtimer_app_to_help_remind_myself/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
So I looked into this a bit more and learned what changes I had to make to make sure I'm not stepping on any toes, legally speaking. I have zero intention of upsetting any companies like Breitling and am simply trying to reach the objective of 'remind me of how these slide rule type bezels work again?'
I made the changes and some additional tweaks and it's now not '(pretend) Breitling' themed or in fact themed to any watch manufacturer. I cannot distribute a mock version of the '(pretend) Breitling' themed one in my intial post but I can distribute this one in the screenshots of this post. Sorry, it's not as a fun as seeing the 'Breitling mock' version but for anyone who wants the functionality of the bezels to remind themselves how they work, this should suffice.
Note, I keep the font on my phone fairly smaller than average but this should hopefully scale up to how you have your phone
There is also a disclaimer in the app.
I'm intending on charging a small notional amount on the Google play store if I manage to release it fully, but Google requires a period of testing amongst something like 12 or 14+ users for a few weeks before full release.
So if you want to be a tester, please message me, I would need your email address.
Feedback is of course appreciated by private message, though I'm admittedly not planning on going crazy with this; it's meant to be a quick educational/reminder app. No permissions (beyond installation) are required on this app.
Note the following:
-This is android only, sorry iphone users, maybe in the future.
-Why not just give you guys an 'apk' file? Honestly? For your own good! Do you trust a random file from a stranger on the internet or would you rather it was downloaded from the play store, having gone through Google's scans? The trade off is that I need your email address to register you as a tester. Google should then email you a link to the playstore where, assuming you are signed into the play store with the provided email address, you will get a link to download the app from the play store as a tester.
-Please do NOT send me ANY other personal data. Please DO check any links you are sent; I am not responsible for clicking malicious links not sent by me. Please be internet wise and I actively encourage you to look into how safe it is for what I am asking. Do not simply trust me; I am a stranger to you. In turn, my benefit is that I get to release it to the big wide world after.
-Assuming I can actually get this going, I am happy to give promo codes to the first testers (if I can make it work) so that they can have the app for free.
-Reminder: None of this post is legally binding, I cannot guarantee peformance etc, I'm just a regular Joe; I've tried my best to optimise this but please remember I'm not some big company pouring lots of money into a super well thought out process.
-Additional reminder: This app is NOT meant to mock or mimic or claim to be affiliated with, released by, owned by or otherwise with any existing company such as a watch manufacturer like Breitling.
