I think we may have just jumped the shark

I think we may have just jumped the shark

I love Arc Raiders and I’m glad we finally have some good subway memes in the stream but I can’t help but mourn a little bit. We went from the most anticipated cassette sci fi multiplayer game in years with 500k concurrent, to SUBWAY soldier memes w actual sandwiches strapped to our chest and getting torched by hackers. It’s great memes and great fun but man how things have changed

Pleasant surprise: Flanking Augment

I know everyone just runs survivor all the time, but as a poor expeditionist. I have only found the flanking and I must say it’s a fun time.

The quick equip feels great when switching between Burletta/Anvil and having a quick use wheel w 8 slots of very handy and fun and encourages bringing a ton of deployables.

I’ve become spoiled by always having jolts, walls, and ziplines on the wheel at all times.

Would encourage people to try it out!

EDIT: This screencap is outdated. This augment now supports medium shield!

Do people actually hate the game or is it just like a snark thing and just want to watch it fail?

I played the server slam and thought it was a decent game. The guns feel good and the abilities are solid. It takes a little while to get used to but I didn’t think it was a bad time. My only complaint was the UI was a little tough and the items etc weren’t intuitive at first but generally I had fun playing it. I just didn’t stick with it because I’m generally a pretty casual gamer and it was a bit too in depth for me to take on. Lots of games like RS SIEGE, Tarkov, and other games are just too involved for me to get in to. So is this sub for people who played and just think the game is bad or is it for people who just were hoping it would fail and are tracking it to watch its demise?? I guess I just don’t get it.

It’s actually crazy how much better the game feels after Expedition

Having every arc feel valuable, every container be exciting, and every mod feel like a real upgrade is so refreshing. Running green mags and half upgrades almost broken guns with low tier gadgets feels like it’s better balance. Arc actually feel dangerous again, you truly do have to sneak because you can get over your head so fast.
Early game is absolutely where this title shines. So glad for reset.

I have faith in Embark

I was a Finals season 1-6 player but bailed to play arc raiders. To this day, I chase the high of these games. I jumped to battlefield 6, helldivers 2, poe2, first light, SAND, and a few others but they just do not hold a candle to these Embark titles. Despite their faults, nothing touches Embark games peak moments. I don’t care what anyone says. That last second steal on the tournament winner in world tour. That last second extraction on the night raid. I just haven’t found a game that comes close to the excitement.

Going back to the Finals for the crossover outfit to play breakthrough, new skills, and weapons. Embark has been absolutely cooking with Finals and we will get a feast in October. I am a true believer. Praise be.

I am once again asking for players to understand why hostiles will always end up in all lobbies.

I generally just do friendly runs but recently I went to a key room with a buddy and guy I met topside on Riven Tide. A no-miccer wouldn’t leave the key room right after we opened it. So as a courtesy to the guy I met. I put the troll down so it wouldn’t affect his ABMM.

I ended up in hostile lobbies after that and did some pvp just for fun because , when in Rome, why not? I had a few successful games but then I had a bad break and got torched two games in a row with my head in a surveyor.

Next game a guy popped around the corner and scared the shit out of me so I blasted him and he got on the mic PISSED. Another guy came around the corner asking what happened and I realized I was back in friendly lobbies.

Hostile players will drop down into friendly lobbies if they take a few tough Ls in a row so they will always cycle back through because, statistically, in PvP lobbies, someone has to die first and probably sometimes without even getting a shot off.

I understand that this will fall on deaf ears and or people won’t give a damn but I just wanted to try to offer an explanation of why it happens and likely will continue to happen from time to time.

Unpopular take: Full wipes are what make the game and community feel best

Seasons of extraction shooters are kinda like television. They are most fun when everyone is watching and experiencing it at the same time rather than on demand at their own pace.

The 3-4 days when everyone is grinding benches and packing the groves looking for fruits are the best times because we’re all experiencing similar things.

It’s also actually exciting again when someone busts out a big gun early season.

Now it just feels like everyone is stacked and going through the motions.

I hope they full wipe before each 6 month update so we can all grind as a community.

Let the downvotes flow in.

EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION: The value of a wipe isn’t to punish other players it is just to level set the economy. The time will come when 70% of the global inventory will be maxed out tempests and bobcat/kinetics and Vulcano/ kinetics. If golden and purple items are the most abundant items in the game, by far, the game is quite literally over, at a global scale.

Request: Leaper Buff

We’ve had multi tweaks to rocketeer and shredder and other arc but Leaper is still pretty much the same as launch and generally not thought of as very dangerous.

Some possible thoughts:

  1. Increase run speed and jump speed
  2. Alternatively walk that allows them to move

through building

  1. pretty well and not get stuck.
  2. Would be very cool to see it morph and push through the window and pursue you through the building.
  3. Allow it to stick to buildings like an actual spider so it doesn’t fall down when it jumps towards windows.

EDIT: Everytime I edit this post the format goes more schizo so sorry about the numbers etc…

Fix the Survivor Augment Supremacy w a Heavy Shield Buff

The looter augments are supposed to have higher capacity and weight with the disadvantage of a shield limitation. This philosophy is fundamentally broken for as long as medium shield is the best shield.

Movement penalty should be decreased to 10% and one more additional shield bar or a higher percentage protection should be considered.

A team of heavy shields, all else equal should, have a the advantage over team of 3 medium.

Apparently hot take: Arc is a balanced game if you have a balanced play style and are not completely oblivious.

PvP shoot on sighters get paired w more killers. PvEers get vastly friendlier lobbies. PvEers have no clue how brutal real aggressive lobbies can be.

Tips for pvEers getting “ratted.” If you see or hear a flair in the first ten minutes, there is a killer and either leave or move accordingly. Very few players get fully downed by arc alone, especially early raid. 80% chance they got jumped. Between 19 and 16 minutes you’ll get late raiders and free kitters dropping in so your awareness has to go up at extracts. I have extracted probably 50 times without a shot laid on me but it doesn’t mean I don’t hear or see people getting fried because they are basically playing grocery store simulator.

You can just sprint around and circlejerk with your flashlight fully on, in the open, for an entire raid but expect a late raid free kit to eat your lunch.

The game has problems but it’s damn fun and every raid can be an adventure if you’re not playing a single player or death match play style.
