Another low effort update on the dreadful thing
I am calling it Anthology but... Yea, it's just 3 input channels and like 3 modes with a bunch of tone controls.
I am still not too sure about some values, thus missing numbers, though i also got lazy at places. I tried my best to be low-noise about it, but i won't flatter myself until it is done.
I was pondering if i should buy power and output transformers but it would cost ~2x as much for a transformer that is not tailored to my needs, as i plan to leave massive power overhead on anodes and heaters for eventual 40W 2x6L6 and even more eventual 100W 2xkt88 upgrade. (It will require fixed bias on output tubes, but it's a small and simple thing to add) So, yeah, time to wind again.
Eventual sheet metal box size is roughly 50x20x5 cm (20x8x2 inches), the whole thing will probably stand 52x25x20cm and weigh around 15kg (~35lb) as a lowball.
Low effort update on the dreadful thing
I hate it. Why am i doing it to myself? I just want something truly mine.
God give me strength to finish this thing.
Fellas, do you ever feel existential dread while looking at the creation of your own mind?
There's gonna be a lot of math later today ToT
Another small vid of SE Amp
Now with Celestion G10-40!
I may make a full vid about it but... I dont have a decent mic to record it.
2x 6n2p + 6p14p(el84) comboamp
The uh, the speaker freaking sucks i will change it to celestion g10n-40 or ten30. Kinda quiet but the chinesium speaker is probably to blame.
2x 6n2p + 6p14p (because all my 6p1p turned out to be freaking dead). Champy schematic with additional triodes for cold cut OD.
I... uhh... Made a champy comboamp
I know i shouldn't have jumped projects so fast, but i made a comboamp that borrows heavily from champ, but adds coldcut for single ended (reqires two triodes for simmetricity). It sounds like crap because i have a carsound speaker and probably made a couple mistakes winding the output transformer.
Final scematic of preamp i was working on (demo next week)
So i made a tube preamp that can do different levels of coldcut overdrive, has a simple FMV tonestack with a... uhh... WTF switch that i initially made by mistake, but decided to make it a feature. No idea how it works, but it changes properties of "High" potentiometer.
At 70%+ Gain pot the palm mutes start to properly chug and the Pick Squeals almost play themselves (when i try to play normal notes).
But... My cheapo Ibanez has real buzzy pickups. So demo is delayed until i either do away with the buzz or get better pickups.
Fellas, it's ALIVE
Simplified soldano preamp, output transformer helps maintain the normal phase.
it wasn't working because i am stupid and wired the XLR/Jack incorrectly. Stay tuned for another post where i will put schematics and point-to-point layout.
Help Dora find the source of hum.
2x6n2p i have 13 of those tubes and the "from conservation" ones don't change anything.
Anode is 110v before rect, 150v after (4x10A10 + 47u400v). Heater is AC from 9v transformer with resistor balancing and dropping resistors to 6,3v.
Fellas, if i'm getting an insane 50cycle hum in my preamp, can't i just filter it out with a band-stop filter?
