Stimming Traits

For people who have been diagnosed in later life (40+), what did you make of the stimming part of the diagnosis. I don't feel like I do this, but I did have something more like nervous ticks as a kid, but there was no comfort or relief from it. I remember seeing a documentary about Tourette syndrome when i was a kid and I was worried I had that. It felt more like a compulsion. Could that be stimming? it's not something i do any more though which makes me feel i shouldn't be diagnosed.

Where do you feel it? How do you feel? Are you aware that you're feeling something or are you just noticing that you seem to shut down around a certain person. Is it first person? Is it second person? Is it third person? When it speaks, what does it feel like for you. Asking for a friend...
