Avoiding infection

Deep cut on my forearm closer to my wrist but not quite, accidental(not the cut itself but the going deep part), can see a little bit of fat. It’s not huge but by googles standards it’s stitch-worthy. It doesn’t hurt(like at all actually? Which is kind of concerning) right now it’s pinched along the cut-line and held together with some regular household bandaids. I won’t go to the ER because teenager+self harm=obvious need for confidentiality. It’s not bleeding excessively right now and I’m not in pain but I’m deathly afraid of infection. How do I avoid it to the best of my abilities? Also, if you’re willing to share, have you cut deep enough to see the fat before and not gotten stitches or an infection? Is it common to get infections? How dangerous is it? Thanks.

Avoiding infection

Bad arm cut. Deep. Fat is visible. Realistically needs stitches (based on googles definition), obviously teenager+self harm=not going to the er because DUH, But how do I keep it from getting infected? I’m deathly afraid of like sepsis and shit. Please help. Rn it’s pinched along the cut and stuck together w some good old fashioned household bandaids. To be clear I don’t promote this and deeply regret my personal actions that led up to this
