My Y1s have Rockbox version from November, and the other December 2023. One jumps to music folder and the other has to crawl 2 extra folder. Not that big a deal. Is there any good reason to update it? I'm just curios.

I usually don't update stuff that doesn't connect to the internet because it is working great now and suffering from screwing it up is a possibility lol.

I'm into tech but never had a tablet. I am not a power user. I want to read books, play music, annotate screenshots and draw on top of images. I just want no spyware BS, bloatware. If the OS isn't stock or decent (OnePlus, Moto etc), is root necessary to force disable apps?

8-10 inch preferred but larger okay. 1280x800 minimum res, will pay a little more for 1080p. Must have mSD slot. Anything since 2020 will do. $150 is the most I want to spend. I don't know if it is even possible.

I don't know if this is appropriate here, but it seems relevant to this sub-reddit's interest. This is really fun from some time ago. I got a 1DX mk III for a little over $100 plus tax.

My friend had a lucky experience buying a nice printer from a borderline scam/junk seller on a certain popular site. I won't give detail because the seller is clearly predatory and this whole situation is a fluke. They are likely reselling junk lots of returned electronics without testing while also running shipping scams and restocking fee bs. Anyway the printer was bought for parts, but it actually worked.

Well I looked around the storefront and the prices weren't even that good. But there was a canon mirrorless camera listed for 90 odd dollars that was clearly missing a zero (a good scam shouldn't be too obvious). The listing had only been up for a few minutes. Well, what the heck, I ordered it. I assumed it would not ship for weeks until I cancelled the order, after which a brick in a box might be sent with a phantom tracking number. Typical scam stuff.

Well 3 days later a 1DX mk III, 3 batteries, Kastar dual charger, and a CF card full of thousands of photos of root vegetables and slides about PFAS contamination arrived in a box that looked like it'd been drop kicked by bigfoot. The packaging was hilariously bad. The camera was on the bottom with ONE layer of thin bubble wrap separating it from the bottom of the box. Above was a huge amount of the rest of the bubble wrap, then the accessories on top uncovered.

Maybe the seller thought it was broken after seeing the scary red warning messages in an arcane ancient language (actually Spanish) for no lens, non-chipped battery communication, no card. I guess the camera was set to not fire the shutter without a card or a lens. The sensor cleaning could have been attributed to demonic possession.

161k on the shutter, a clump of dead pixels on the top LCD, scratched screen, a couple gouges; the average 1D I suppose. Ok for the price.
