My phone was broken I paid for insurance and then when I got my phone back they said it’s not eligible for a sim unlock. Has this happened to anyone else?

I keep seeing things about how poorly that model is built. I was thinking of getting a used one and people keep hating on it. Does anyone have an experience with it. I’m looking for awd model I live in the pnw too if that means anything
