What is your leadership style with Fi?

I have been listening to podcasts about Walter Isaacson, who wrote the biographies of Steve Jobs (ENTJ) and Elon Musk (xNTJ). The common thread with them and with other notorious ENTJ leaders like Napoleon is that they lack empathy in favor of the greater mission.

This is obviously the sign of using Te-Ni for ambitious accomplishments and forward progression. However, it is also clear where each person chose to abandon Fi.

I am curious since many of you are leaders, business owners, and entrepreneurs. If you actively work on your Fi and try to implement it, what are some of the strengths and weaknesses in your leadership style?

Are any of you religious?

I have a hypothesis right now that most atheists and agnostics are Thinker types. I'm curious if any of you are practicing religion (not just on a Census form).

If so, which one, and why do you remain with it?

Never dating an ISTP again

I've seen quite a few people saying they partnered with ISTP and I want to share a contrasting opinion.

I ended up in a multi-year cohabitating relationship with an ISTP. I thought it would end in marriage and I'm so glad it didn't.

After dating a few feelers (ENFP, INFJ) and a particularly unhealthy ENTP whose narcissism and lack of consciousness swung too far, ISTP felt like a breath of fresh air.

They are calm, stoic, reliable, and no-nonsense. If they have healthy self-esteem, they are great at fulfilling our high consciousness through relative stability.

But in the relationship I noticed that I suppressed my Ni. I found myself saying that considering my abstract thoughts was impractical and therefore a waste of time. Essentially, it is a functional partnership but not a soul-filling one.

And sometimes I think we get caught up in our Te and forget to indulge our Ni-Fi.

Now, my closest friends are INFP and I am with a particularly mature ENTP. I never knew it in the relationship with the ISTP, but there was an entire side of myself that was locked away that is now released.

It feels like I can breathe.

That Ni-Fi is exactly what helps us connect disparate ideas to understand the repercussions of large-scale strategies. Not indulging it leads to poor leadership that lacks empathy (which we are prone to).

So just a reminder that even though we are prone to choosing practical partnerships, it is ok to filter for ones that are soul connections as well!

Did any of you actually marry an ENTP?

Have any of you actually gone through a successful relationship and marriage with an ENTP? What made it work or not work? What is your story?

Are you guys capable of commitment?

ENTJ collecting data here. I seem to be deeply attracted to ENTPs and have dated more than any other MBTI.

A few observations:

- Many seem to be in favor of extremely high body counts, open relationships, and polyamory

- You seem to appreciate a challenge of trying to be a perfect partner temporarily and then (in my experience) give up

- The primary difference between ENTJ and ENTP is when I state future intent, it means I am acting on it today and this is a concrete plan. When ENTP states future intent, you guys are just describing a fantasy.

So to all of you:

  1. What does the structure of romantic commitment look like?

  2. What is the criteria that causes you to choose a specific person over other alternatives?

  3. What causes you to remain committed?

Us xNTJ types love you for your beautiful minds but it is very difficult to tell which flirting/fantasies/future commitments are real vs. not real.

Almost all of my friends are F types.

However, I am hitting a wall with dealing with F types, especially as a woman, since most women are F types.

I realized I cannot physically understand what it is like to be driven by identity and values, as while I may have categorizations of identity and a strong position towards injustice, I act based on objective and contextual logic.

But again and again I am excluded from groups for over intellectualizing things or focusing too much on First Principles.

Essentially, they are offended too easily even when trying to have a normal conversation. This is sad, because I enjoy being around them because they are kind people.

If anybody has advice for how to deal with this in the long-term without deeply offending F types at some point, I would love to know.

Edit: I like many people who are F types and this is not about my close friends. This is about me struggling to interact with broader social groups in my vicinity who might be acquaintances versus close friends.
