Facebook ad account restricted since 2021 due to account being hacked - NIC verified but no Request Review button. Has anyone successfully appealed this?
Hey everyone, long post but I really need some advice from people who have been through this.
Background:
I recently discovered my Facebook account has been restricted from advertising since October 30, 2021. The reason given was Account integrity and authentic identity violations. The shocking part is I never ran any ads in 2021. I was just casually using Facebook, watching videos and livestreams, nothing else.
What I found after investigating:
- There is an old ad campaign from October 2021 that I never created.
- An unknown Mastercard is added to my payment methods and I have never owned a Mastercard in my life.
- Someone clearly accessed my account in 2021, ran ads using their card, got flagged by Meta, and my account took the restriction.
- I have since secured my account with a new password and two factor authentication.
- Outstanding balance is $0.00 so no money is owed.
What I have done so far:
- Discovered the restriction only recently after 4 years.
- Submitted my National Identity Card for verification which was confirmed and approved by Meta.
- Contacted Meta through Meta Business app under Help then Contact Support with full explanation.
- Got a response but could not reach a real human agent yet.
The problem:
Even after identity verification there is no Request Review button visible anywhere on my account. Meta AI mentioned restrictions on my profile but this does not appear to be a permanent ban based on what I can see. I just cannot find the right path to get a proper human review.
My questions:
- Has anyone successfully appealed a Facebook ad restriction from 2021 that was caused by unauthorized account access?
- How did you actually reach a real human agent at Meta support, through chat or email?
- Does getting Facebook Verified (the paid Meta Verified subscription) give you access to better human support or a direct review process?
- Did submitting your identity document actually speed up or help your appeal?
- Is there a specific escalation path inside Meta Business support that actually works for this type of case?
Any advice from people who have actually been through this and come out the other side would be massively appreciated. I have been going in circles with automated support responses.
TL;DR: Account was accessed by someone in 2021 without my knowledge. They try to run ads, got flagged, and my account got restricted. I never knew until now. Identity verified, no Request Review button, cannot reach human agent. Wondering if Meta Verified subscription helps get real support and review.
