I was overworked badly that I got a bruise on my arm and leg...

My supervisor had us working at her storage unit, which was not in the job description at all. We were moving really heavy boxes, and the next day my whole body was sore and my back was hurting. I knew this was unprofessional because I’ve been doing SYEP for a long time, but at the same time, I did feel bad because she is running a nonprofit and didn’t really have anyone else to help her. She may even be reading this, but I still feel like I have to share what happened.

We also had to stay an extra 30 minutes putting everything back, which went over our time limit, then had to come back the next day to fix everything again. I ended up getting a bruise on my arm and leg from moving things around. My mom was even upset when I told her because she also agreed that this was not part of my job description.

I understand that nonprofits may need extra help, but this was not what I signed up for when I accepted an administrative position. I’m honestly upset with myself for going along with it, but I also know I was put in an uncomfortable situation. I just hope future SYEP participants don’t have to go through the same experience.

Outside of SYEP AGES 18-24

Hi everyone! So this opportunity is mainly for 18–24-year-olds, especially those who are not currently in school or who can fit these programs into their schedule.

Commonpoint offers free vocational training programs in both Queens and the Bronx in fields such as

Medical: CNA, EKG, Pharmacy Tech, Culinary Arts, Construction, IT, and more. They also recently added a Court Reporting program for those interested in the legal field.

If you're interested, check out: https://www.commonpoint.org/program/vocational-training-programs-for-new-careers

One thing to keep in mind: these programs can be difficult to attend if you're in school because of the schedule.

My sister completed the EKG program, and classes were held from 10AM–3 PM (or 10-4 I forgot 😅) However, the training only lasts about one month. IT lasts 3 months.

At the end of the program, participants receive a certification ( yes there are exams to take) and a paid externship, which can be a great way to gain experience and start a career in these fields. It’s great to have a job right now while also going to school or finding your career path!

I would also like to note my sister did have a 17 year old in her class! They should accept you if you’re 17 as well! And yes these classes are free, you just have to send your documents (SSN, Birth Certificate etc.) by email or you can go in person.

Good luck to anyone interested!

Does anyone know if there's a way to connect an actual microphone directly to a PS5 for recording videos

I want better voice quality when recording PS5 gameplay. My headset mic sounds kind of muffled and not very clear.

I don’t have a PC, but I do have a MacBook Pro I can use if needed. I’ve heard about recording voice separately and syncing it, but is there a way to plug in a better mic directly to PS5, or any simple setup to get clearer, more “crisp” voice audio?

Swag Box June 1st

I’m asking the workers or anyone who has information about the swag box kit you can get on Monday. The box includes items like a camera, matches, JBL speaker etc. I just want to know what time can I go to get it. The Wingstop website says 7:00 AM CT, which would be 8:00 AM EST for me, but Google says the store doesn’t open until 10:30 AM. What time should I plan to come in?

here’s the link https://ir.wingstop.com/wingstop-turns-loyalty-into-cultural-currency-with-the-launch-of-club-wingstop/ that has the information from the website

Any Pharmacy Tech schools in NYC?

Hello, I’m 21 years old and currently looking for a legitimate and affordable pharmacy technician program. I’m trying to earn my pharmacy tech certification and would really appreciate any recommendations or personal experiences with schools you’d suggest. Thank you!
