STARTING IS THE ISSUE

Starting to study is the problem. If once I start I can start my work and get into a flow state immediately even though i get distracted few times but still manage to bring myself to study. But initiating to study is a bigger issue.

please share any tips and tricks

“Why do locals feel pressured to speak Hindi in Hyderabad?”

study at a very diverse college in Hyderabad, with students whose families come from all over India. I genuinely don’t mind people speaking Hindi, but something has been bothering me.

A large majority of conversations on campus happen in Hindi, even among students who have lived in Hyderabad their entire lives, and whose parents were also born and brought up here. Very few people make any effort to speak Telugu.

Even my friends usually speak to me in Hindi. I can speak Hindi fluently, but I often reply in English or Telugu because I don’t see why I should always be the one accommodating others when there’s little effort to accommodate the local language.

What frustrates me even more is that many people in my class actually know Telugu but either pretend they don’t or deliberately speak broken Telugu while comfortably using fluent Hindi. It makes me wonder has speaking Telugu become something to be embarrassed about?

On the other hand, Telugu-speaking students often try to speak Hindi, even if they’re not fluent, and sometimes end up being laughed at for their mistakes. That creates an imbalance where locals feel pressured to adapt, while others don’t feel the need to learn or use the language of the state they’re living in.

I’m not saying everyone should stop speaking Hindi. People should absolutely speak whatever language they’re comfortable with. But shouldn’t there also be some effort to respect and use the local language, especially if you’ve grown up here? I feel like Telugu deserves more space and respect in its own state.

Do you think we should take any further steps to stop it??

What do you guys think and did you face any similar situation then feel free to discuss!!

posted in r/hyderabad also. This was my personal experience
