My childhood PSP2004 screen died within 30 minutes

This is insane, I was playing GTA and at some point lines started to appear on the screen. They became more and more visible and after a couple of minutes the text became unreadable. Within 30 minutes my screen went from perfect to completely broken. Does someone know what caused this?

It felt a little bit like bringing your hamster to the vet to say goodbye 🥺

I just bought this Game Boy Color on Vinted. Does anyone have an idea what the black residue in the battery compartment could be? There seems to be some of that residue on the front as well.

Could it be fire damage?

I'm going to swap the casing, so it will look super nice again soon!
