What do you seek out of life?

Every time I try to think of an answer to this question, I can never find an one.

The normie answer seems to be: get a career, start a family, build a good social circle, and ride it out until the end. But I'm not sure my neurodivergent ass could handle all of that.

So what do you guys actually want out of life?

Lost a friend today

A friend and I had been planning on going on a trip towards the end of the month. I hadn't seen her in a while due to various life reasons so was really excited to catch up with her and enjoy a little vacation.

Today she let me know that her boyfriend doesn't want her to go on the trip with me. I was very understanding and said that it's okay, but she then blocked me an hour later.

I'm back to having no friends to hang out with now 😄

High heart rate from Memantine

I've been taking Memantine for about 3 weeks to help with my ADHD, ASD, and anxiety. I started at 5 mg and now titrated up to 10 mg.

Overall, the experience has been wonderful. It's almost completely eliminated my social anxiety, and I feel much more at ease with my thoughts and in social situations.

I have noticed a few side effects, including slight irritability, some brain fog, and a small amount of dissociation. However, compared to the benefits I've been getting, the side effects are pretty manageable.

The one issue that's starting to concern me is my heart rate. Recently, I've noticed it's been consistently higher than usual, around the high 90s while resting and anywhere from 130–150 bpm while walking. I've never experienced this before, so the only thing I can think of is that it might be related to the memantine.

I'd really like to continue taking it because it's been genuinely life changing for me, but the elevated heart rate is making me a bit nervous.

Has anyone else experienced something similar while taking memantine?

Got a job offer

I got a job offer at a warehouse not too far from where I live. It's only part time, which is probably for the best as I don't know if I could handle full time work right now. The pay is okay-ish for 3 days of work a week.

The contract is only for 3 months which I'm fine with since I'm only doing this to save up to buy a car. I don't get NEETbux so any amount of money helps in my situation.

I've never had a real world job before so I'm kind of nervous on what to expect. The interview is on Sunday, and they seem like they really need new hirings so hopefully they'll overlook some of my autistic behaviors.

Wish me luck 🍀

I helped an old lady today

Kind of a random post since I don't really have anyone to share this with.

I was lying in bed doomscrolling at around 4 PM today when I heard an old woman outside repeatedly shouting for help. At first, I assumed she was calling to someone she lived with but she just kept shouting, so I decided to put my shoes on and go check.

I followed the sound and found an old lady lying on the ground. I asked what happened, and she told me she'd fallen and couldn't get back up. The gate was closed, so she asked if I could let her son know.

I took my bike, went to his workplace, and told him what had happened. He thanked me, and thankfully she wasn't hurt.

The funny thing is that if I had a job, I probably wouldn't have been there to help.

At the same time the whole thing made me think about getting older. If I do end up alone, I wonder what would happen if something like that were to happen to me.
